“Compassion, which I define as unconditional love, is essential to a Jedi’s life so you may say we are encouraged to love.” Star Wars is a story that reflects the fundamental struggle between good and evil. There is an oppressive Empire while a group of rebels tries to destroy it and create a better galaxy for all. 2 major characters in the series are Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker. Both Anakin and Luke were both Jedi, but that's where the similarities seem to end. Anakin ended up a villain, a commander of the Imperial Army because he gave in to hate. He slaughtered villages of people to satisfy his rage. His hatred and anger made him a different person. He even went as far as killing his old mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi. He risks his life time after time for them and on the Death Star, a selfless deed. Han Solo and Chewbacca helped him leave Tatooine, and he paid them back a hundred times over by saving their lives. A compassionate person, Luke cared about his friends, and companions so much that he would risk his life for theirs. Anakin and Luke both cared deeply about those close to them and do sometimes irrational things to avenge or save them. Lastly, they were both trained by the same people. Anakin was trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi, even though he was too old to train because he already had attachments to the physical. According to an old prophecy, Anakin would defeat the siths and bring balance to the force, but sadly that was not what happened. Eventually, Anakin turned to the dark side of the force and killed Obi-Wan to prove his strength. Anakin always tries to prove to Obi-Wan that he is neither rash nor foolish, but only proved his point in the end. Luke was also trained by Obi-wan. He taught him everything he knew and prepared him so he would not turn to the dark side of the force like his father and sense the force with feelings. By Obi-Wans guidance, Luke fulfilled the prophecy instead of Anakin. Both Anakin and Luke became powerful Jedi because they were trained by
