The Clone Wars Did you know that George Lucas (creator and author of Star Wars) was so sure that Star Wars was going to be a huge flop that he spent the opening week in Hawaii, with a friend to avoid hearing negative reviews? However, he was wrong. Star Wars was a huge success. It was, and still is, loved by millions around the world. In fact, there are now six movies (with three more on the way), two cartoon series and quite possibly millions of spin-off books and movies know as the expanded universe. A big part of Star Wars’s fictional “history” is the Clone Wars. The Clone Wars was the result of a very well planned and well executed plot which brought the galaxy under the control of the Sith. Here, Queen Amidala went to plead her case to the senate. When the senate offered no help, Amidala’s friend, Senator Palpatine, suggested she place a vote of no confidence in the current chancellor, Chancellor Valorum; Senator Palpatine was later elected as chancellor. Queen Amidala and the two Jedi, along with Anakin Skywalker, went back to Naboo to prepare for battle. However, there they met a greater challenge then they expected. Darth Sidious had sent his apprentice, Darth Maul, to protect the Trade Federation. The two Jedi took on Maul, but Qui-gon was killed in the process. He, with his dying breath, made Kenobi promise him he would train Anakin. The battle was won when Anakin destroyed the command ship that was controlling all the battle droids (robots that were programmed to fight for the Trade Federation). Queen Amidala then had Viceroy Gunray to sign a treaty to leave Naboo alone. Sometime either during or after the Battle of Naboo, a clone army was commissioned and began production.
