State Farm attempts to create an atmosphere in which employees have the feeling that they can easily grow and move up in the ranks of the company. If employees begin to feel as if what they do does not contribute or make any difference at all to the overall success of the company, then their motivation to be as productive as possible will fall. Once one employee is able to skim by with less than their full effort others will realize that they can they can do the same thing with no punishment and before long the company will be riddled with unmotivated employees contributing as little as they can get away with to the overall goals of the firm. State Farm offers many opportunities for employees to move up in the company which is one way of motivating employees. Not every employee will be the same obviously, and what motivates employees will likely change over time as they age making this task very difficult for human resource management teams. There are many jobs that fall under the responsibilities for a company’s human resource management team, and for a company to maximize its potential it must utilize its employees to the best of its ability capitalizing on the human capital of its employees. A company that does not utilize the strengths of its workforce to its full potential while understanding its weaknesses will surely be less successful than a company with strong human resource
