Elite Retreat Achieve: To reach or obtain a desired objective by effort, skill, and/or courage. On what seemed like any other regular night, I realized that all my hard work had finally paid off. Rewind to November of 2015, I am at a stalemate in high school, where each day seems to become longer and longer as the days on my calendar creep closer to graduation and college. As I remain at a standstill in high school my mind races to the next chapter in my life that is coming ever so slowly. I have received copious amounts of emails on different clubs one could join and different organizations I should be a part of but none of them genuinely spoke to me, until I discovered E.L.I.T.E, the Eller Leadership and Integrity Training for Excellence. …show more content…
He gives me a dull explanation of the program, but something about the name E.L.I.T.E sparks my interest and so I begin my personal investigation. As I open their website and read the bold heading: “Eller Leadership and Integrity Training for Excellence”, I am immediately hooked. Whether as the captain of my varsity lacrosse team, first chair trombone in my wind ensemble, or head position in student council, I have always been a leader amongst my peers. As I stare at the acronym for the program and see the words: Eller, the business college I am going into, and leader, one of my best traits, I cannot help but wonder if this is destiny. E.L.I.T.E is a yearlong program for the top five percent of the oncoming business freshman. This program teaches a member how to mold into the norms of the business world. Each year the Dean invites the E.L.I.T.E program to her house to participate in networking opportunities and team building events. As I get off the bus we go sign in at a table where we get assigned our mentor groups. A mentor group is a group of five other E.L.I.T.E members who are paired with a past E.L.I.T.E alumnus. This mentor will be our guide through the vigorous course of the E.L.I.T.E program. They will be the ones who edit our resumes, help network us with companies, and other objectives to engage us into the business
