CASA stands for court appointed court advocates and is a program that has been created to stand up for children in the foster care system and to help them fight for a safe home ("National Court Appointed). The mission statement for CASA is together with state and local member programs CASA supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the U.S. can be safe, have a permanent home and opportunity to thrive ("National Court Appointed). I really connect with CASA because in the future I would love to either foster, adopt or both. I would love to give a permanent home to a child who has no real place to call home. At the sisterhood retreat we had a CASA advisor come to us talk about her job.
I’m interested in joining the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. I would love to join this organization, because I love what they stand for and what they have done for the world so far. They have done things as opening school in Haiti and Africa, Delta house in Africa, and many other things. One of the reason I want to join this prestigious organization is because they do stuff to better the country that I was born in, and everything that’s helping Haiti becomes a better country is something I have to at least try to be a part of. It will also help me get started with my plan on opening a youth center in Haiti.
As a State FFA Officer, we are the greatest representatives of Agriculture in not only our state, but the nation as well. As agriculturalists, farmers, businessmen and women, government officials, family and friends follow us throughout our year, they will be highly influenced by our example. This year as a State Officer I have a great hope to advocate for agriculture. It is essential to help promote the image of agriculture in a positive way, sharing great stories, ideas and future plans for this industry. The objective as a State FFA Officer is to inspire the people we meet by showing them the opportunities found in agriculture.
BACKGROUND Knowing the background of the job of interest not only provides an upper hand but an idea of what type of atmosphere it has been throughout the years. Knowing the history, key individuals, purpose statement and values, and mission statements can sometimes persuade applicants to apply for a job with the institution. Encountering this information has become much easier with the use of the internet and search engines. History “Texas A&M University and Prairie View A&M University were first founded as land-grant colleges in 1876,” years later the A&M system was established in 1948 by the Texas Legislature.
As well as how I cannot take things for granted because others are less fortunate and they do not even have the opportunities and amenities I am able to have. This gave me a new understanding of how others have to survive from day to day. From my first mission trip experience, I have gained a new understanding of how far your actions can go and how important it is to show care and compassion to others whether you know them or they are complete strangers. Danny Thomas once said, "Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others.
The boys and girls club has many great sports activities to join in to help get kids out of the street and become more active in their community. They are there for you when you need them the most and you make so many new positive friends through the activities they have. Camp voyageur was my favorite camp they made you feel wanted and you never felt left out the camp leaders helped you become a leader and made you feel more independent. Boys and girls club have shown me a lot in life and I want to further my education so that someday I can give back to them. With all of my reasons why I want to further my education the most important reason is so I can give back to my family and community one day.
I would be privileged to become part of the family at Acadia University. All the academic challenges that I may face, I am willing to overcome. I am academically fit to go to Arcadia because I currently have a GPA of 4.27, which exceeds the average GPA of most freshmen enrolled. My PSAT scores from 2014 projected my SAT scores to be around 1400. Arcadia looks at various types of SAT scores and has no specific score to be eligible to attend.
In the spring of 2017, I took a huge risk and ran for an Greenbrier FFA officer position. After extensive interviewing and campaigning, I was elected as vice president of our FFA chapter. Acting in this position has allowed me to gain experience and take opportunities that I would that I would have not received otherwise, and the road to this new attribute in my life is what forever has changed my character and what defines me as a person. From Parliamentary Procedure, to speaking to Jr. High students and traveling to our nation's capital, all of these opportunities have allowed me to practice my effective communication and gain a skill that is essential in the real world, personally and professionally. But none of this would have been possible
I, Calyn Lamanno, am running for the position of Chair of Beta Banquet for the 2017/18 school year. I would like to serve in this office because I enjoy organizing events in which I will be participating. The SHS Beta Club is very important to me, and I would like to be as involved as possible. As head of the beta banquet committee, I would be sure to make the banquet the best it could possibly be. I would put in the effort and time needed to make sure the event was up to its potential and to the other members’ and the sponsor’s expectations.
Key Club allows me to become someone who enjoys helping to others, and not just receiving it like I had before I joined. For example, last year I assisted in organizing as well as running the Daddy Daughter
Area FFA Officer Essay There are several reasons why I want to be an Area 15 FFA officer. The principal reason that I want to be an officer is for the learning experience that it will provide. Along with learning various new objectives, being an area officer will help me develop and better some of the leadership skills that I already have. Not only would being an area officer provide personal benefit, I could use the skills and knowledge that I gain to help benefit my chapter. Being an Area 15 FFA officer will teach me several new things about the FFA and leadership skills that I don’t know already.
Thank you for being so encouraging, kind, and understanding whenever I was having trouble with something. Thank you for laughing with me, crying me, and kicking institutional ass with me. Thank you for buying me CoGro coffee and bagels, because it has legitimately changed my life (I have spent so much money now there, oh my lord). Thank you for opening my eyes to the issues in the world around me. Thank you for never taking anyone’s shit.
My interest in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. sparked when I met Sheila Hudson. At the time I had no idea that she was an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. What I saw in Shelia Hudson was a smart, accomplished, proficient women who completely shattered all of my preconceived expectations of what I thought a sorority girl was supposed to be like.
Not only do these clubs recognize academic excellence, they also provide many opportunities for community service. Blood drives, food drives and Operation Christmas Child are only a few of the projects that we participate in throughout the year. I am
I reconsidered the power of a simple thanks to an elderly relative. Now, I can say that I truly believe that this event was very impactive on my daily life. On that day, I felt that my stress level and negative emotions reduced significantly, and my overall feeling of happiness grew somewhat. I learn that by merely taking a few seconds to vocalize a feeling of gratitude towards another human being, that it really improves your demeanor and attitude, over the course of a day. There is true power in the words, we used daily.
