Growing up in an impoverished town, I make it my goal to give back and serve communities much like the one that I grew up in. Moreover, another aspiration of mine is to frequently
My Values of becoming a part of the NJHS I am Lauren Forsyth and a student of Catonsville Middle School. I feel that I should be a part of National Junior Honor Society because of my dedication towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. The following essay will demonstrate how I have dedicated my time towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. As of 2016, I have dedicated myself to 47 hours of service learning and giving back to my community is a very important part of my life. Explain your response. People who help their community understand they can really create a transformation with what they do. This helps people to understand their personal ability, guiding to more self-assurance and a positive approach that can increase their employment
During my time at Dawson College, I took part in the CEGEP's social and community involvement for the course of three semesters. I volunteered at the first aid team and at the Dawson daycare center to gain experience in taking care of different people. My passion has always been to help others and to work with children. Interacting with children in the daycare triggered me to pursue my dream of taking care of young people, and what better way to fulfill those dreams than by becoming a kindergarten teacher and taking part in helping shape our future generations? Being a teacher requires a lot of patience; therefore, volunteering in the daycare helped me learn to be patient and be more understanding because every child is raised differently and all people have different stories.
I have had the unforgettable opportunity to personally raise $1,400 for kids to go to summer camp, whose families could not afford it otherwise. I have worked at food drives, homeless shelters, and kid’s programs in my town, in hopes to make someone’s day a little bit better and ultimately make my community stronger. These experiences shaped who I am today. While I cherish the experience I had making a difference in my own town, I am ready to grow and leave a positive impact somewhere else in the country.
While working at Green Oaks I have gained the fulfillment of working with young children and contributing to my community. A high of my community service would be the bond I have formed with the children I work with. Everyday when I walk in I am greeted with smiling faces and excited students. I believed that working in this classroom would be a greater challenge than it has been. I did not believe that I would be able to adapt to this environment as quickly as I did.
As I said my goodbyes on my last day of the Orphanage Project in Guatemala, I watched tears run down the children’s faces. I was touched by the positive impact I made by applying limited resources directly to those that needed them the most. This experience set a pattern in my life to help others and to serve my community. Whether it is serving soul-pleasing food to the hungry people of San Francisco or delivering burritos to the homeless, these rich experiences will help me bring a spirit of collaboration and community engagement to my classmates at Anderson.
My first week proved to be very challenging. My favorite uncle was a veteran and I often visited him at the Missouri Veterans Home nursing center. He died several years ago, however, I remembered seeing many older veterans who did not have anyone to visit them. Many were very lonely and longed-for visitors. I had decided volunteering with the Veterans Administration Medical Center Jefferson Barracks Division would be something that I would really enjoy.
Growing older, community service has become more valued. Never will I forget where I came from, so helping to better my future through helping others is prominent. With
Even though this volunteer work wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, I had a lot of fun with the opportunity especially working with the children and I learned a lot from it. As well as volunteering I ended up finding myself as a person who people looked up to or let’s just say a leader of some kind. I do Science Olympiad which is a
This page is dedicated to showing how I have been active in my community and what steps I have taken to become a well rounded person. Here I showcase projects that I have worked on in my community, and the hours that I spent helping others when they need it the most. Community service is an important part of everyone's civil action, and this is showing how I have taken that action. Each thing listed below was completed within high school, and they are some of the best memories I can make. Community service is important and impactful to not only yourself, but to the world around you.
Whether I achieve my goals inside or outside classroom, the sense of accomplishment upon completing a strenuous hike or a difficult climb is a feeling I want to continue experiencing for the rest of my life. At MIT, we seek to develop in each member of our community the ability and passion to work collaboratively for the betterment of humankind. Community service does not only have a profound impact on our community, but the impact it has on the individual people is even greater. The concept of community service has always been something that I grew up with, and now that I am older I better understand how important community service is for society. I have participated in community service activities. Starting in elementary school, I helped feed the homeless and rescue animals. Even with my wide range of volunteer experience, it was difficult to find an activity that would be meaningful and fulfill my thirty-hour obligation for my senior project.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
