The curriculum followed in your program is intriguing, as it allows various clinical clerkships, sub-internships, and generous opportunities for electives, out-of state and global experiences. I am particularly interested in the clinical and global opportunities that your school offers. Sanford School of Medicine’s Scholarship Pathways Program is an invaluable program that provides students an avenue for gaining knowledge and research experience outside of the classroom. I really enjoyed learning more about the program during my interview with Dr. Zeigler. The Frontier and Rural Medicine program available to your students is a unique opportunity, offering insight and experiences in the full spectrum of rural medicine.
One of many reasons why I am drawn towards the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine is because of its rigorous curriculum and the school’s mission and values. Being immersed to a primary care clinic during the beginning of school, in opinion, is vital to the learn experience as it gives the students a hands-on experience. Furthermore, the school’s main focus on diversity appeals to my attention as it promotes learning from various students with different backgrounds. Diversity in the school setting corresponds to the real world since physicians will always encounter patients from all walks of life. Being a student who quickly learns from firsthand experiences and who can easily collaborate with other individuals, I believe I will contribute
The lessons I learned from the program have helped me guide my expectations for my future goals. It has taught me that I have the potential to do amazing things with
I am interested in Howard University because it is an HBCU that encompass the themes of cultural diversity and education. Your commitment to scholars ensures me that at your school I will be right at home. Through this program I hope to learn the fundamentals of community based research, how to advocate for health policy, a most importantly how to educate communities on health. I believe that is the most rewarding thing I can get out of this program. Having the ability, the power, to change someone’s life, by just giving him or her basic health care knowledge is so empowering. Knowing that I changed that life, that because of me hopefully their health will better instead of worsen. Through this program I hope to learn from the community, to learn their experiences, which will allow me to be even more conscious of the disparities they are forced to face, hence causing me to ponder “how can this issue be fixed?”, “what policy can be implemented”?.
I would like to join the medPREP program because ever since I was a child I always had an interest in the medical filed. In the future when I pursue college I would like to be as prepared as possible and I believe that med PREP will help do that for me. My personal area of interest is Dermatology. I have chosen to go into this medical field because I have various skin issues myself and would like to learn about these problems, as well as help others understand their skin better. At the end of my medPREP journey I would hope to achieve one main goal and that is to be prepared when go to medical school.
I think that of all the summer programs available, the Stanford Summer Institutes is the most rigorous and challenging, due to Stanford’s excellent academic reputation, which appeals to me. I want to attend the Summer Institutes because I believe that I can devote the most time to my passion this way, since other summer programs require choosing multiple courses instead of one. I am interested in Stanford as a future college as an undergraduate and a graduate, so going to the Stanford Summer Institutes would let me experience life on campus. I look forward to living on “The Farm” as well as engaging with a community of likeminded individuals who share my spirit and drive. I know that Stanford is very community-oriented, and I seek to share
I am incredibly curious, capable, and passionate when it comes to the fields of science and medicine. I can only imagine myself operating in a profession where I get to make direct, tangible contributions to people and bettering their lives. Throughout the semester, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Worldwide Clinical Trials, a CRO company, as a Marketing Intern. Worldwide Clinical Trials is a team of clinical research experts who want to make the world a healthier place. I was drawn to this internship immediately as it was related to the health field and I have gained exceptional digital marketing experience such as creating marketing content, digital campaigns, preparing social media posts, and maintaining trade shows, campaigns, and webinars. I have achieved many goals in my internship related to the digital marketing perspective. I worked throughout the company’s website, www.worldwide.com, to upload articles related to their therapeutic areas.
I not only strive to apply scientific findings to treat my future patients, but also hope to gain inspiration from my patients to advance scientific knowledge. My first comprehensive exposure to the health care field was six years ago as a senior, during which time I participated in hospital-based schooling. This program allowed me to observe a multitude of different medical disciplines, with rotations in surgery, orthopedics, nutrition, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, administrative services, and many more. Three out of the five school days were dedicated solely to shadowing, and the other two were spent in the classroom learning various medical-centric studies. Once in college, I continued to shadow physicians whenever my class scheduled permitted. I participated in the 4-U Mentorship program, which paired me with a fourth-year medical student who was preparing to do his residency in general

Epidemiology also interests me since it is truly a combination of many different areas as it draws on statistics, clinical medicine, microbiology and many other fields. The internship with the summer institute with the UT School of Public Health would give me hands on experience in public health practice, specifically with opportunities in infectious diseases and epidemiology. I feel that my experiences and classes I have had throughout my time as a public health major will allow me to put my knowledge to use in the real world. I have listed the “Zika and Neglected Tropical Diseases” as my the preference for my first project, as it aligns exactly with my career goals and interests.
