Through my many years of school, kindergarten through high school, I have had countless numbers of people and experiences that have shaped me into the young woman I am today. My most recent experience that has taught me so much about myself and life is my first theater experience, UIL one act play. For years and years my parents encouraged me to try out for one-act play. They believed I would be a natural since I previously enjoyed public speaking contests. Because of my involvement in so many other extra-curricular activities, there always seemed to be a conflict that gave me a good excuse not to try out for the play.
“Don’t be afraid to explore, ask questions and take chances,” my dad would tell me. You see, my dad, an engineer, tried to get me to question everything. He is never afraid to learn a little bit more about something he already knows and is always eager to learn something new; I take after him. I love to learn, and figure out how things work. It's not surprising, then, that I plan on majoring in engineering; what is, perhaps, surprising, is that these same habits of mind led to me developing an interest in and passion for theatre.
Good acting is accomplished when the actor has allowed themselves to connect with their individual character and with their partners as well. One of the actors that stood out from the cast at Austin Peay was Emily. Emily used the connection she had with her character to create facial expressions and meaning to her lines. Musical Theater has many positive benefits for people, no matter how they are involved. There are many ways to be involved in musical theater, and they all have some type of affect on people 's lives. There is light and sound crew, who climb high into the rafters to use lights and learn to use complicated sound boards and make sure everyone is seen and heard. There is the set designers, who use their artistic talents to create all the sets and backgrounds for a musical.
When I was in Year 5, a children's theatre company came to my primary school and performed a show about a journey through space. The use of extravagant costume, aesthetically pleasing proxemics and exaggerated acting really interested me. It was this experience that really opened my eyes to the world of theatre and since then I have been obsessed. I want to study Musical Theatre at university in hopes of having a career in this subject.
2. How and when did you decide to enter teaching? Well I always played music as a kids, as you know, to help me cope in my everyday life. It was always such a huge part of who I was so it just seemed natural to want to share that. It was in high school that I really decided I wanted to teach.
I love the freedom acting gives me. Acting allows me to take a character and interpret the character the way I see her. I get to experience emotions I would not normally get to explore. I become someone else and escape my life for hours at a time. Nothing else matters to me at that moment because I am not myself.
My passion for theater blossomed when I entered High School, I was one of those kids who didn’t automatically fit in with the rest of the group. I was different and I knew it, I just didn’t
Perseverance, in most cases, will out-weigh talent even if you are really bad at that particular thing. Just because you are talented at something, that does not mean you will succeed automatically. One of the students who was rejected for the summer theater role, was
Acting With today’s movies and TV shows coming out of the woodworks in rapid pace there has been a more of a demand for actors. Now there are tons of production companies making new ideas for films and TV. Some popular companies are Universal Pictures, Funimation and Warner Brothers. To get any job in acting you first have to audition to see if you fit the part of any characters, you will get turned down a couple times and sometimes you get a part that you were not expecting, but it’s your choice whether you want to accept the part or not you have a great deal of options on what type of actor you want to be. There are many different type of actors some focus on wanting to be known as a certain type.
Acquiring confidence for who you are is extremely important. If you are confident in yourself then you will have confidence in whatever you do. A children's theatre called Compass Creative Dramatics installed a project telling people to send in comments about how theatre has helped them or has helped out their children. A women named Leona described how her daughter was more confident in being herself because theatre taught her that being yourself is cool. Kids learn to trust their own instincts and their own ideas.
In the end, I care more about the opportunities I get me my life versus the number on my paycheck. I would feel lost without theatre giving me hope for myself and for the world. Not only would theatre benefit my life the most, but it is so beneficial for the community and every individual. Theatre has the power to inspire, give hope, teach, and open the mind. That is something I want to give to
For the past couple of year, acting is all I have know to do and it is something that I enjoy to do even though I do not get paid to do it. When acting, I do not have to be myself, but I am the character and when I am on a stage I do not get afraid or nervous because the people will not judge me. Some people will say that going into an acting major is not a smart decision because it's hard to get a job with it, but I'm willing to work hard and do
However, theater is much more than an elective or an “easy A”, theater is something that will stick with you for the rest of your
