Through my many years of school, kindergarten through high school, I have had countless numbers of people and experiences that have shaped me into the young woman I am today. My most recent experience that has taught me so much about myself and life is my first theater experience, UIL one act play. For years and years my parents encouraged me to try out for one-act play. They believed I would be a natural since I previously enjoyed public speaking contests. Because of my involvement in so many other extra-curricular activities, there always seemed to be a conflict that gave me a good excuse not to try out for the play.
“Don’t be afraid to explore, ask questions and take chances,” my dad would tell me. You see, my dad, an engineer, tried to get me to question everything. He is never afraid to learn a little bit more about something he already knows and is always eager to learn something new; I take after him. I love to learn, and figure out how things work. It's not surprising, then, that I plan on majoring in engineering; what is, perhaps, surprising, is that these same habits of mind led to me developing an interest in and passion for theatre.
Good acting is accomplished when the actor has allowed themselves to connect with their individual character and with their partners as well. One of the actors that stood out from the cast at Austin Peay was Emily. Emily used the connection she had with her character to create facial expressions and meaning to her lines. Up until now audience members

Musical Theater has many positive benefits for people, no matter how they are involved. There are many ways to be involved in musical theater, and they all have some type of affect on people 's lives. There is light and sound crew, who climb high into the rafters to use lights and learn to use complicated sound boards and make sure everyone is seen and heard. There is the set designers, who use their artistic talents to create all the sets and backgrounds for a musical.
Before I loved to act, my first audition for a musical was decent. I got up there and started to sing, but my legs started to tremble and I almost broke into tears, but I didn’t, my second didn’t go as smoothly. Before I even went up I started bawling, and remember I am only like 8 years old, but I didn’t get in the play. After my audition for the lion king, my acting skills have improved and I can enjoy acting, though my stage fright is not fully gone, it's getting there, but mostly it’s like a piece of cake. On top of acting, I joined jazz band which I was unsure about, but now was I feel a great choice.
When I was in Year 5, a children's theatre company came to my primary school and performed a show about a journey through space. The use of extravagant costume, aesthetically pleasing proxemics and exaggerated acting really interested me. It was this experience that really opened my eyes to the world of theatre and since then I have been obsessed. I want to study Musical Theatre at university in hopes of having a career in this subject.
I love the freedom acting gives me. Acting allows me to take a character and interpret the character the way I see her. I get to experience emotions I would not normally get to explore. I become someone else and escape my life for hours at a time. Nothing else matters to me at that moment because I am not myself.
Perseverance, in most cases, will out-weigh talent even if you are really bad at that particular thing. Just because you are talented at something, that does not mean you will succeed automatically. One of the students who was rejected for the summer theater role, was
Based on what I want to accomplish in my life, I decided that theatre would be the best route. I want to learn more about the world and be happy. I want to be in a field that is challenging and fun. I know I will learn the most valuable things from a theatre BFA, then with a science degree.
Imagine you are an actor arriving at an audition. You enter a waiting room and see all these people who talk like you, look like you, and are auditioning for the same part as you. Would you still have what it takes to show someone how you are different? Theatre has been apart of education in schools since 1965. It has helped guide people and it has given the world great entertainers.
I 've always been fascinated by the art of telling stories. The main reason I 'm passionate about musical theatre is that I find it to be one of the best ways to tell stories. The combination of music and acting creates for me something that no other form of art form can create. The more musicals I watch the more I find how interesting, innovative this combination can be, and the more I feel a burning need to be a part of it.
I believe that our school should have a Broadway/Musical Theater Club. Many people ask; “How will this benefit our school?” A Musical Theater/Broadway Club can benefit our school in many ways. One is in history class. Many broadway shows talk about very important events in history.
For the past couple of year, acting is all I have know to do and it is something that I enjoy to do even though I do not get paid to do it. When acting, I do not have to be myself, but I am the character and when I am on a stage I do not get afraid or nervous because the people will not judge me. Some people will say that going into an acting major is not a smart decision because it's hard to get a job with it, but I'm willing to work hard and do
However, theater is much more than an elective or an “easy A”, theater is something that will stick with you for the rest of your
