I’m interested in joining the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. I would love to join this organization, because I love what they stand for and what they have done for the world so far. They have done things as opening school in Haiti and Africa, Delta house in Africa, and many other things. One of the reason I want to join this prestigious organization is because they do stuff to better the country that I was born in, and everything that’s helping Haiti becomes a better country is something I have to at least try to be a part of. It will also help me get started with my plan on opening a youth center in Haiti.
I can contribute my knowledge of social justice and ability to be a community servant to this organization. My long-term life goal is to become a hospital owner in multiple underrepresented areas and foreign countries. Being a community servant, one can build character while helping open doors or provide opportunities for those who are less fortunate. I’ve read the many articles of the large groups of Alpha men graduating from Meharry Medical College, that have had such a huge impact on the surrounding communities by giving a helping hand when needed. Having 180 volunteer hours has always been something for me to be proud of. Each summer I have taken time off of work and gone on mission trips all around the country and I hope to continue this when I go off to college at Texas A&M. I have a math brain and hope to use that to my advantage in the business world and in my future efforts to give back. My lifetime goal is to graduate Texas A&M with a business degree and to go out in the world making a difference for the company I work for, along with the organizations I donate to.
Growing up on the border of inner city and suburban lifestyle I have seen many different things. The struggles, the triumphs, setbacks, but also the amazing comeups in life. Throughout everything that I have seen, I always wanted to help those who had fallen get back up and be one of the many people who encouraged and advocated for the ones who succeeded. My passion has stayed true for years to be the helping hand for my community and those generations who will come after me.
My ultimate endeavor since attending community college has been my involvement in school, specifically with Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. As an engineering major I am limited to a diminutive amount of free time, due to the quantity and difficulty of my classes. However, this limitation and the fact that my ride to school is a two hour trip on public transportation, has not stopped me from participating in extracurricular activities. Applying my time management and responsibility skills that I acquired from taking several math base classes at the same time, I managed to become a member of clubs and attain leadership roles. I first became the Vice President of Service, for Phi Theta Kappa and organized service events on campus and outside of campus.
and I’m striving every day to get there. My main goal is to work for a non-profit that helps the Latino community. To help better the community I was raised in and forever love. I want to make sure that my Latino people can get the help they need and deserve.
Besides my aspirations to study abroad, I hope to continue developing my passion for volunteering by leading an independent volunteering program for poverty-stricken families in my community at the College of Charleston. I intend to enhance not only myself, but my college and community by being a driven, involved
I kept telling myself that it would be too much during my first semester at college, and I should just wait until I get adjusted to college life. However, one organization stuck out to me at the fair. The organization was Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a community service sorority. In high school, I enjoyed doing community service, but I only ever did it in high school because it was required. I was hesitant about attending the interest meeting for the organization because the word “sorority” formed the idea of a typical social sorority in my head, but I attended the interest meeting anyways.
I have had the unforgettable opportunity to personally raise $1,400 for kids to go to summer camp, whose families could not afford it otherwise. I have worked at food drives, homeless shelters, and kid’s programs in my town, in hopes to make someone’s day a little bit better and ultimately make my community stronger. These experiences shaped who I am today. While I cherish the experience I had making a difference in my own town, I am ready to grow and leave a positive impact somewhere else in the country.
As a junior in high school, I was inducted into the National Honor Society for doing exceptionally well in my academic endeavors and actively participating in volunteer events. My contributions through this organization have made a significant impact on both my personal development and my community’s support services.
