I am eager to attend the USNA Summer STEM due to my strong interest in all disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. My future plan is to attend the United States Naval Academy, study Nuclear Engineering and serve my country for life. Over the past six years, I have served my country in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. I have accumulated a vast knowledge of the STEM field during my numerous week long trainings at Naval Base Coronado, MCB Camp Pendleton, SS Lane Victory, & Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station.
Over my short, seventeen-year lifetime, I have had passions in many areas, from geography to soccer to leadership. However, as I have grown older, I have had a growing passion for the schools in my area because they taught me everything that I know and have given me all the opportunities that I have taken advantage of. Because of this growing passion, I became involved in two very important organizations that influence the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District: the Community Schools Planning Initiative and the Sartell – St. Stephen Board Of Education. The Community Schools Planning Initiative was launched at the start of 2015 in order to come up with a vision for the future of the Sartell – St. Stephen School District and a plan to match that
In the program, you have to write articles and every time I write one, I can see that I am improving and using larger vocabulary. Also, if I had been in the program longer, I would have been more prepared to run for New York State Dairy Princess. I regard the STEM Academy as an extremely positive program that will significantly help my peers and myself in the future. Science has many stimulating topics that have helped our world to advance. The STEM program will definitely push me towards the science aspects of life, allowing me to become more educated in the subject. I hope to be able to join the STEM academy to gain more knowledge in the fields of science and math, to be able to collaborate with others more efficiently, work independently, and to be triumphant in being the best student I can. Upward Bound is an amazing program. I have learned so many amazing things from my very first day to now. This program has many helpful things, for example, the Bridge Program. At first I was not sure if I wanted to be in the bridge program, because UAFS was not the university I was planning on going. All that changed though.
I wish to be a part of the program to gain further experience in biomedical research and in presenting my research coherently and concisely. The mentorship and networking inherently in the program are invaluable, along with the lifelong friendships with other members of the program who will one day become significant figures in the scientific world. Not to mention the fascinating work being done in the Vanderbilt laboratories and the connections to other important work being done in the local and global scientific communities, which I would have access to as a participant of the program. I feel that I would be capable of bridging the gap between worlds. After growing up in Taos and having spent the last two years at Vassar, I have lived among people ranging across the socioeconomic spectrum.

I am writing to apply for Popular and Special Programs Coordinator with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. While I was attending the University of Michigan, I had the opportunity to workED in various arts administration positions and frequently attend DSO performances. As a result, I developed a deep commitment to the arts not only as a musician but as a facilitator and I longed to work in an environment that supported artistic and professional integrity. I am constantly encouraged by my experiences with the Detroit Symphony to continue my participation in the performing arts community; I am confident my background qualifies me to competently perform the necessary duties of the Popular and Special Programs Coordinator. This past summer, I worked for the Aspen Music Festival and School as an orchestra manager.
