Is stem cell therapy “playing god” in manipulating embryonic cells, growing organs and ultimately making us look younger and feeling healthier? Our cells are what make us, however, they are finite organisms that eventually die off, resulting in disease and our eventual death. Cells in our bodies are constantly multiplying, but at some point, they stop making cells, which leads to our bodies developing debilitating diseases. Stem cell therapy is a generally new science that brings many health benefits that we didn’t have before. Patients around the world that have acquired forms of cancers, spinal cord injuries and blood diseases can be treated with stem cell transplantation that is quick and effective in slowing down or eliminating the ailments and illnesses. Stem cell therapy is helping in treating different cancers, acute spinal cord injuries and once the science is fully understood can cure Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Unfortunately, although Obama worked vigorously to open restrictions and allow funding, stem cell therapy is still severely handicapped. With that handicap, patients in America are suffering because stem cell therapy is still restricted. Stem cell therapy is also pushing innovation by growing organs, curing hair loss, and smoothing wrinkly skin. Stem cell therapy is a relatively new science that brings many benefits to curbing disease and certain neurological disorders. I believe stem cell therapy be moderately regulated in the United States. Funding should also be upped so that medical companies can continue in researching new ways to cure a disease.
