Research Essay - Leadership Many effective leaders are honest and have a lot of passion for the people and their requirements. Stephen Harper was not an example of an effective, strong, productive leader. Stephen Harper was born on April 30, 1959 and grew up in Toronto, Canada. Harper served as Prime Minister from February 6, 2006 until November 4, 2015 (Harper, 2017). Harper was never a rhetoric speaker to crowds; consequently, he did not smile and cannot brighten up a room (Stephen Harper, 2002). Harper had much interest in business before he became the Prime Minister of Canada. With Stephen Harper, showing little or no sympathy to our country, he manifests that he is ignorant, prodigal, and non-ecological. Moreover, Stephen Harper is an inadequate leader. To begin with, Harper never converses problems to make Canada a better place. Gender equality is a big issue in our world and needs to be addressed immediately. Harper is non-ecological and did not endeavour to put a stop to environmental issues. Harper does not consider that global warming is an issue and does not need to be dealt with. Global warming is going to affect our future in a negative way. “Stephen Harper said he would spend $15 million on the environment to help, but that never happened. Harper does not believe in global warming or any environmental issues” (Waren, 2015). An effective leader is willing to make a positive change in our world and make our future a better place. Harper does not display any effort for our environment which demonstrates why he is an unqualified leader.
