Question #3 I have chosen to represent the Liberal Party of Canada, as I feel that we share similar perspectives on important issues. We believe that after having Stephen Harper as PM for more than nine years, our immigration system has been greatly damaged. Stephen Harper was responsible for canceling family sponsorship applications for more than two years, and when the applications were finally allowed to be accepted, the rules were made extremely strict. This means that hardworking Canadians are unable to be reunified with their families. However, the Liberal Party plans on making a change. We will effectively double the number of family sponsorship applications, from 5,000 to 10,000 each year. In addition to doubling the number of family …show more content…

It is an important issue and needs to be tackled as it could put humankind and other biotic factors at risk. This issue is important to the Canadian society, as our animal species are at great risk due to global warming. Endangered animals such as the polar bear have a high change of disappearing in the wilderness if the ice caps continue melting as a result of global warming. According to experts, the Arctic sea ice is liquefying at a rate of more that 9% each year, destroying polar bear habits and putting their lives at risk. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide form a layer in our atmosphere. They help keep our planet warm by trapping the heat that …show more content…

However some of that heat energy gets converted into infrared radiation and gets sent back to space. This is called the greenhouse effect because it resembles the way that a greenhouse works. We need the greenhouse gases because without them our planet would be too cold for plants to grow and without plants, there would be no oxygen for living organisms. But people are adding more greenhouse gases to our atmosphere. Whenever we drive our petrol cars, use electricity or manufacture a product in a factory, we use energy and a large portion of this energy comes from burning fossil fuels. Whenever we burn fossil fuels, we release excess amounts of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. The Liberal government plans on resolving this issue by reducing the environmental footprint of each Canadian. In order to do so we will move on to more renewable and environmentally-friendly ways of energy generation. We will conduct more research and development in order to make renewable resources such as solar, wind, tidal and geothermal, more easy to harness and implement them into various modes of transportation and public institutions. Doing so will stop the burning of fossil fuels and save the planet for our future generations to
