Over the centuries, there have been many horror authors such as Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. For some authors, it comes easy to transfer the story to paper. For others, they have to research to transfer what they need. They all have a story to tell. Out of all the horror writers but the one that is the closest to the way King writes is Dean Koontz. There are many great horror writers but Stephen Edwin King is a great horror writer because he writes from life experiences. Stephen Edwin King was born in Portland, Maine, on September 21, 1947. To entertain himself, King began writing at about the age of seven, firsts copying stories from children’s books and later creating King’s own fantasy tales. By age twelve, King was cranking out science-fiction stories on an old Underwood typewriter Nellie gave him. King even sought, unsuccessfully, to have them published. While best known for horror and as an unofficial representative for the state of Maine, King has also become a remarkably thoughtful voice on the demands of the writing life “its toll on one’s life, the frustrations of actually crafting a story, and the moral consequences that art brings to bear on both creator and audience (Frazier 3).
