Being misunderstood can be very difficult for a group trying to change the world for the better. Sadly, this occurs more often than not. These misunderstandings can take many forms but are most commonly known as stereotypes, or just blatant misconceptions. When this happens, it can give a person or even a group an ill reputation. It can be so severe, to even cause people to lose their job if affiliated with a group that has a poor misconception or stereotype. Misconceptions are the blatant misinformation of an aspect of a group. Misconceptions can be formed by ignorant people who make assumptions about a group that they know little about. To be a feminist, one must be an activist of equal rights between the sexes; as learned from an interview with millennial feminist Berlynn Schmidt. This, of course, comes with the implication that there is not equality between sexes. That statement is the core fight of feminists. This group has been subject to many misconceptions and many stereotypes, but first we must deduce the difference between these two terms. First off, a stereotype is based on slight truth. Although over-exaggerated, every stereotype has some truth that lies behind it. Stereotypes occur naturally for no real reason because stereotypes are everywhere so it is important that no one is attempting to create stereotypes. It is just simply noticed by the public. Although stereotypes are not supposed to harm any group’s image, harm can still be a result and it is important to notice when something is a stereotype and what weight is carried in the stereotype as to not cause harm to anyone who does not deserve it. Misconceptions are falsifications that have been told as truths so commonly that society has deemed it truth although having none. Misconceptions are formed with the idea of giving a group a poor reputation. Usually, the misconception is believable which, in turn, spreads, causing almost everyone to be misinformed. The group accept anybody who 's willing to work and is willing to talk to those who do not quite understand what the cause is. Feminists are very understanding and do not expect anything from others except equality among the sexes. The public paints these people as people who have hatred towards the male population and only consist of women. It is completely false that this group consists purly of women but there is some truth to the other statement the women in this group do not hate men but resent the ones who continuously attempt to oppress people who want equality. The fact that feminists are seen as this hatred filled group of nothing but estrogen, does not stop any from being, in the words of New York Times writer Claire Miller, “[a] little more than the vehicle of a political movement.” These women have accomplished many things but the fact that the have done so despite such an opposition it is truly amazing that anything has been done. The voices are loud and demand to be heard with all of the passion on the line these women fight knowing what the want pushing for change now knowing society will make women wait for later. Society will grow and these women will finally feel as if the accomplished something
