Life through Children’s Animation Living in an open minded society leads to a very unique and personalized outlook for many bold individuals. Children's animation films reflect current societal views in ways that it can undermine gender and race. Each society embodies the beliefs, values, and morals in many different aspects, and this allows individuals to have a unique way of interpreting those values; as others may perceive those beliefs in a conflicting view. In the movie Zootopia, society's beliefs and morals are questioned by a little bunny, Judy. In relevance to today, Judy who represents the constant problem with race and gender has a substantial impact on society's development throughout the years. The animation film Zootopia, is very relevant to beliefs and values that the many communities deal with and leads to gender issues, specifically women discrimination. Judy from the very beginning of the movie has the type of persona who always finishes the job when given an assignment. Judy justifies what women deal with, such as being underestimated and being capable of finishing and completing a job that a man may or may not complete. As a young child, Judy always aspired to be in the law enforcement, despite her size and ends up thriving in the academy to one of the top positions in her class, valedictorian. Going into the male dominant work force, Judy still accomplished what the bigger animals were not capable of doing and had done even better than some. Nick mentions, “If the world is only going to see a fox as shifty and untrustworthy, there’s no point in trying to be something else” (Zootopia). Nick sees his group of animals as being devious, and they are stereotyped to not be trustworthy. Like Nick, many races in our society deal with the same problems. The Hispanic race is currently dealing with racial issues through Trump and his administration. In relevance, Judy says that the reason behind the savageness from the drugged-up animals was also through their biological DNA of being predators (Zootopia). Judy’s comment towards blaming the predators for their savageness, reasons with Trump’s societal views about Mexicans.
