I believe when it comes to narrative, it should take more than one person to fulfil the story. Quite often, stories told from narrative by one person makes them to believe they are the protagonist rather than the antagonist. Gottschall’s, Storytelling Animal and Christopher Nolan’s, Memento clearly depict this. I believe that more than one side of the story must be heard because it clearly puts the pieces together. This is because we get a different perspective from other people, the impact of a one sided story tells, and the lack of details told by relying on our memories. If I were to look back at highschool, I would think I left an impact there, where in reality, I never did. First of all, when we get a different perspective, it allows us to piece together a story that doesn’t fully add up. Hearing two sides to a story is so important when it comes to the truth. When there is a domestic dispute, police hear out everyone’s side of the story so they can piece together what actually happened. Our minds can confuse us and give us a different perspective than if two people had told it. This is because both people can discuss what happened and put the pieces together from there. For example, I was telling a story that I thought I had a very good memory about what happened. It lead to my friend interrupting and filling in the missing details of the story. Due to my lack of memory on the story, I would’ve told a story that gave a one sided perspective where when two people had told it, the story would have all the details without any information being left out.
