A video game is created by electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a television screen or other display screen. Most video games are considered an educational art form and are a great part of today’s culture. The United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of the classification of video games as art in 2011, and even the French Minister of culture, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, supported the recognition of video games as an art form in 2006. Despite being initially introduced as a form of entertainment, video games play an important role in popular culture as well as education and entertainment. However, many people argue that video games cause violence in adolescents and young children. While there are some extremely violent video games available, these games have ratings keeping them from falling in the hands of many young children. Although many will argue that video games should be removed or more heavily monitored, they are not the main cause of violence in adolescents, and they can benefit children by offering them strategic thinking skills, learning opportunities, and stress relief. …show more content…

Strategic thinking is a process that defines the way people think about, assess, and create the future for themselves and others around them. This is a very effective way of thinking and viewing a situation. Video games are the best way to gets hands on with this type of thinking and give a first person view on these situations and how to handle them the smartest way. Leadership is gained through people that have a good strategic thinking skill and this can lead to personal success. Video games help practice strategic thinking because some games make gamers think about the in game situation before trying to attempt the level, and this causes skill to be
