Political parties started in America because of the different views on how the government should be runned by Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson and the influences of newspapers. Jefferson and Hamilton had different views on how the government should be runned. Jefferson believed farmers were the center of the economy so, he feared that a manufacturing economy would corrupt the U.S.. Hamilton opposed Jefferson, he wanted the government to promote trade and manufacturing because he favored the growth of cities. Hamilton wanted more power to the government than the states. Jefferson disagreed and he feared the government might try to take powers given to the states.

Political parties play a huge role in America’s democracy because they get people out to vote and they organize the government. The purpose of a political party is to take positions on current issues by nominating the best candidates to represent what the party stands for. Democrats and Republicans are the two main parties that represent most of the citizens. Once a candidate takes office, they carry out and act on the solutions for the current public issues that the party believes in.

They believed in a very strong central government, protecting our freedom, and focusing on infrastructure, and these beliefs helped us make strides in becoming a stable nation. Although they primarily focused on having only the wealthy and elite citizens be in positions of power, many of their politics, such as the National Road, benefited our country in the long run; the Democratic-Republican party claimed to advise the common people, yet led to the opposite through economic crisis, especially when they got rid of our National Bank. Party strength is a measure of the ability of a party to get people to vote for its candidates. The post-World War II shift in party strength was part of a massive shift in policy over time. Scholars saw Republican politicians increasingly excel at getting elected at the local level (Lublin 2006), to offices in the state (Hayes and McKee 2007), and federal governments (Black and Black 2002, 1992; Shafer and Johnston 2006). It is difficult to see how the Republican Party would have become the majority in Congress in 1994 without the increased voting strength in the South. This marked a dramatic shift in national policy.

Is there a way to predict the country’s achievement in the next few years by looking at how political parties have succeeded in the past? My studies use data from 1948 to show the association between the political party in power and their effects on improving the country’s economy. I decided that, a good, practical way of measuring a country’s economy improvement is by observing how employment rate and inflation is affected over time. In this study, I took a closer look at how these two factors are affected by the most important political representatives. These political representatives being; highest national ranked (president) and the highest at state level (governors).
In America, many people did not like the ways the government was doing things. Most citizens wanted political parties, so they could side with the government they liked. The Federalists opposed in political parties. They believed it would have divided the nation . The Federalist party is a stronger party for presidency because it stays neutral in foreign affairs, has a strong government, and is able to fix national debt problems.
Who do I side with? Early political parties were much different than the ones that we currently have today. Although they differ by name, that is not the main difference. The Federalists stood for a large federal government, leading one to draw the connection to the current day democratic party. The Democratic-Republicans on the other hand stood for power for the states, leading one to draw the connection to the current day Republican party.
A political party is an alliance of like-minded individuals who work together in an effort to win elections and control the government in their favor. They compete against each other for political power and the ability to put their ideologies into affect. There are two major parties in the United States, the Democrats and the Republicans. Their philosophies and political platforms are very different. Democrats believe in a strong federal government that has an active role in citizens lives while republicans believe in a small government that should have little to no role.

The two-party system definitely has some advantages. It allows for political stability, a smaller pool of candidates for public office, a simplified version of political information, and the representation of multiple political ideals (“9 Advantages and Disadvantages”).
Although it would not become a lawless anarchy, it would become a dull, frail, lifeless government. Without the spark and fire of political parties, America would become lethargic and mundane. As previously stated; political parties are the heart and brain of America’s government. That means without political parties, America's government would become essentially lifeless.
