Death Penalty The death penalty is the greatest punishment that justice can inflict on a criminal, but it’s not a popular punishment that many people today are willing to commit unless there is no other choice.
Senator Strom Thurmond focused on this subject directly because he believes that the death penalty has more impact on criminals and the threat of this punishment is not enough to make criminals stop their acts of crime. He also talks about how the death penalty exposes the crimes the person commit and why they deserve to die, so society knows why that person deserved the death sentence. The reason this is important is that the Senator believes that by exposing these crimes society will be less likely commit them and bring justice to these inhuman actions. He keeps talking about “Justice requires that criminals get what they deserve. Justice demands that such inhuman action should not be tolerated.” These words and his thoughts he expresses revolve around his vision of Justice and what he thinks of this subject, but he does support his claims through a poll voted by the public to see if they agree with the idea of the death sentence and the results shows that 79 percent agree with the idea.

He believed by explaining these details, it would offer more insight on why the death sentence should be enforced. Each case explained who the criminals were, what crime they committed, and what they did to their victims that got involved. By providing these cases the senator wanted to provide more insight to help others understand why they got the death penalty and why they deserved it. He then concludes that these days the death penalty is not enforced today as it was a long time ago and that the citizens who abide the law want a just punishment of the death penalty rather than a life
