This purpose of this critical analysis is to analyze this popular movie and its relationship to various Structural Determinants of Health. In addition, this analysis will discuss the negative and positive aspect of the structural determinants and that some may be construed as being Structural barriers. The Structural determinants will fall in one of these the following categories: Cultural factors; Societal/Social; Political; Economic, Environmental and lastly other.
Environmental Factors

When Ice Cube visits Bryan, a CEO of a music company, Ice Cube says “when a man does the job, he is supposed to get paid”. The lack of integrity of Bryan has Ice Cube in a financial dilemma because he has purchased a house and is expecting a baby. Another scene that exemplifies the lack of ethics was when Dr. Dre and Ice Cube were talking after returning from a tour. Ice Cube said concerning the signing of the contract “I would rather be broke than be fucked.”
There are psychological factors that can also be Structural determinants of health. There determinants can effect mental health outcomes which intern effect ones physical health outcomes. This is exemplified in the scene at Jerry’s house where Eazy- E comes to talk to him about the money that is missing and the bills that have not been paid. Jerry tries to discredit Tameka. He minimizes her qualifications to evaluate whether Jerry has been stealing from Eazy-E. Jerry in this same scene tried to blame the demise of the group on Eazy-E. This was another psychological ploy to decrease Eazy- E’s self-confidence and self-worth, both of which can bring about negative health outcomes for the individual and the persons closest to them.
