Wouldn’t it be great if college only cost a couple hundred dollars? Most teenagers would actually take the opportunity to attend college. The high cost of college is leaving student’s who are graduating from college in great debt. Student debt is a really big deal for those who are attending or will soon be attending college. Especially for young teens who don't know where to begin looking, those who are struggling to pay their debt off. Student debt can reach up to 120,000 thousand dollars, as mentioned in article one, “ A Generation Hobbled By The Soaring Cost OF College”. For Example, applying for scholarships. Scholarships can be useful to pay off most of college debt. “ I would apply to 10 to 20 scholarships at a time” (Gormus 11). Applying for more than one scholarship might be necessary, but it's a great idea to begin earning money. So at the end of college it is going to be less money or even no money that needs to be payed off. A second option would be to work hard and save money, which is a little more complicated, especially if a young teen is still in high school. “people worry that working during school will hurt academic performance” (Bissonnette 13). Working and studying at the same time can be difficult, but not impossible. Shown on these studies, “ College students who were employed actually had slightly higher average GPA (2.72) than those who weren’t working (2.69)” (Bissonnette 13). It has be proven that those who work while still in high school graduate with a higher GPA than those who did not work while in high school. In the same way a student can also consider attending a community college, which is seven times cheaper than a university. Student’s look desperately for a college or a university, that they don’t realize there are other options way better and cheaper than the one they are planning to attend.
