Styrene

Styrene is a toxic chemical that goes by many names such as ; Vinylbenzene , Ethenylbenzene , Phenyl Ethylene, Benzene and etc. Styrene is a colorless liquid that has an unsaturated ring that contains alternating double and single bonds ( Aromatic odor ).*This is an example of an aromatic compound known as Benzene, as shown above the unsaturated ring contains alternating double and single bonds.
Styrene is a very important component that is used in making everyday products that you and I use e.g components for cars, trucks, trains, and etc. Styrene helps make very reliable, strong, flexible products that we use everyday and everywhere.

Because of its properties products made of styrene usually have great characteristics that most products don't have like durability, good performance, easy to make and etc. These products are usually safe to use, very good in hygiene wise, and most important of all recyclable.

*Imagine our lives without styrene, almost everything in our daily lives at home is styrene based, from taking a shower in the morning to watching the english premier league on the T.V
All of the properties styrene have are responsible in making styrene very useful and because of these properties too there is so many uses for styrene in the world.

Styrene has a somewhat huge impact to the environment and ethics. In the manufacturing of certain products like rubber, plastics and etc, styrene is used a lot and over 50,000 workers are exposed to this compound. Styrene does cause effects, short term exposure can cause skin and eye irritation but long term exposure of this compound can affect the human body severely like causing a problem to the nervous system and this can cause depression, headaches, weakness and etc. Styrene is classified as a human substance that can cause cancer to living tissues by some well known health
