Success. One simple word. Two syllables. Although the word itself is straightforward, defining success is complex. Many people define success as having prosperity, but that wealth can come in many forms other than money. Just ask Mother Theresa or Mahatma Ghandi if they were successful. Neither had much money, but both were rich and successful in way that could not be bought. Success can be defined in many ways such as being satisfied and happy with your life, knowing you’ve made a positive impact on others, and having a sense of accomplishment. Having happiness and satisfaction in your life is more meaningful that anything purchased from a store. For example, living a comfortable and safe life can be a measure of success. Having a home to live in, money to pay bills, and family to love gives a great sense of satisfaction. You may also have a job that you absolutely love. You can be a positive role model to others through your actions. When people see that you have a positive attitude, they may strive to be like you. Teachers can be positive role models by showing students how to work hard, show caring, and be confident. Volunteering can also have a positive impact on others. Sharing your skills and talents with others can teach them those same skills. You can also volunteer in the community to make a difference to those with less than you. This gives you a sense of purpose in life. You can also serve as a mentor to others. Mentors share expertise and inspire others to improve their own skills.
