Throughout a lifetime there are maybe a few people that are said to be “great leaders.” As years go by the appreciation for these leaders seems to grow. There are a bunch of these leaders that are still honored today, more specifically, Suleiman the Magnificent and Queen Elizabeth I. Some characteristics that these great leaders exhibited were intelligence, courage, and astute ability. To start off, intelligence is a talent that Suleiman the Magnificent and Queen Elizabeth I worked hard for. Suleiman put a lot of thought into his war plans. According to a biography written by Jane Simmons, “…he used an enveloping maneuver to surround them. Attacked from all sides, the Hungarians were wiped out, and their young king was killed.” Suleiman also created a system that was like a modern-day assembly line which was very efficient. Queen Elizabeth I on the other hand was also very intelligent, but for different reasons. According to a summary of Accomplishments written by Amit Carter, Elizabeth was able to speak several languages; some were Latin, Greek, French, and Italian! Suleiman exhibited astute ability with his way of ruling. Suleiman created a strong military; he was the head of his army for every battle, inspiring them. As the head of his army, he was a very aggressive military leader, causing people from other lands to fear, yet admire him. Queen Elizabeth I showed astute ability by putting efforts to provide money for education and exploration.
