Life at Valley Forge Brave, have no fear of someone or something. American soldiers represent bravery. The huts of the soldiers were very long and wide. The fireplace was in acceptable condition. No beds in the huts just straw and mud.
I was only a young boy when I was forced to be one of the Continental soldiers, this was one of the coldest winter I’ve ever experienced…… It was on December 9th, 1777, when General Washington and we, the Continental Army, had to build a winter camp at a place that in the future, killed thousands of soldiers, and the name of this place is Valley forge. This place is about 20 mis away from Philadelphia. But here’s the problem, my enlistment is up in one month, my friends wants me to stay so we can fight for liberty and freedom, but I don’t think I’m able to afford the cost of dying,I thought long about this, but I choose to leave….. (Waldo 141) Starting from the first day we arrived at Valley Forge, my life never had been better, instead, it’s
Dear Ms. Julia Galef, I hope you are doing well. I am Hailey Selly and I am reaching out to you from M-State, a community college in Minnesota. One of my courses, ENGL 1210 90-91 Writing About Current Events, has me focus on my mindset and the steps that I must take to improve it. We are studying how to see the world more realistically, to understand this further, I was assigned the reading of your 2021 book, “The Scout Mindset: Why Some People See Clearly and Others Don’t.” As I read your story, I was shocked.
I’ve been asked what it means to be an Eagle scout, but I can’t properly tell you what an Eagle scout is without explaining how it feels, and how to get there. When you earn your Eagle, you get a feeling of accomplishment, and that you have finally met that goal. But there’s more to it than that. You look back on your Eagle project, your scouting experience, all of your schooling, your home life, church events, and you realize that it isn’t something you’ve done on your own. You realize that every scout master, every senior patrol leader, every teacher, every pastor, and especially your parents, have influenced you to become an Eagle.
The coming of age is the process of growing up or entering adulthood, a stage of life that every living thing goes through from human to fish, although it comes at times that are unexpected and at any age, sometimes it might be fast or it could be a slow process. In the book TKM many characters go through the coming of age from old to young. This essay will be talking about Scout, Boo,and Jem and their journey through the coming of age. The sense I have decided upon is the scene where Scout and Jem are attacked In the forest, On the way home from a the school play. And how literary terms affect the thought of the scene First in the book TKM when Scout and Jem get attacked I believed this played a large role in Scouts coming of age.
The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum have a common theme. Both authors illustrate the importance of courage through internal struggles and challenges. In both novels, a character experiments with courage and evolve to thrive with it. In The Red Badge of Courage, Henry earns his courage while serving in the army. In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Lion finds his courage in the magical land of Oz.
“Scouts’s Honor” by Avi is a realistic story about kids who go camping in a different state. In the begining, three nine year olds have to go camping in a different state. The have to do it to move up to the next level in boy scouts. Soon, they try to all be braver than the other kids that would probaly make them the leader. In the end they realize that they can’t do it because they are only nine years old and they are not being watched by a parent.
I would like to start off by saying some thank yous to those who made this day possible. To my parents for the much needed love and support To my family and friends and to the people who helped with my eagle project And thank you all for attending my court of honor Over the past 13 years, scouting has taught me a lot of things that will stay with me the rest of my life. It has taught me, don’t use gasoline to start a fire.
The boy scouts for more than 100 years has been a masculine organization, many girls had applied to this program but they were rejected so it has made many women feel discriminated against by this, and dedicated their life to the fight against discrimination. But there are also girl scouts that is also an organization only for women, and in other words, men are also discriminated by this organization because man also cannot form part of this group. I do not see the need to fight by each other’s if each gender has its own organization. Finally the goal or dream of many people who fought so that this organization can accepts the girls was achieved, because now girls can be part of the boy scouts, now it will be a mixed program.
“One way to observe synergy in an organization is to observe the combined efforts of individuals working together. Synergy can result from the efforts of people serving on committees or teams. By combining their knowledge, insights, and ideas, groups often make better decisions than would have been made by the group members acting independently. Positive synergy resulting from group decisions may well include the generation of more ideas, more creative solutions, increased acceptance of the decision by group members, and increased opportunity for the expression of diverse opinion (Gale,2009, p. 918).” Having a group that comes from diverse backgrounds and different walks of life can bring positive insight and new ideas into a group project.
When people think of great war books that actually realistically depicts the battles that rages on and what goes through a regular foot soldiers mind; what book pops into their minds? The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane pops into mine. Novelist Harold Frederic claimed, “impels the feeling that the actual truth about a battle has never been guessed before” (Weatherford, 116). Stephen Crane is considered one of the best writers of realism. Also he is remembered for his classic works in literary naturalism.
From the moment I was born I was considered a military brat, I was born in Hawaii at tripler hospital because my mom was in the army and stationed there, my biological father was in the marines. When my mom remarried when I was 7, she married a man who was in the Navy. Everyone thinks being a Military brat just means you know more than other people because you 've been more places and seen more things and you get a lot of stuff you want. This is not true at all. Coming from a military background means you never have stability, you are held to a higher standard than all the other kids, and sometimes it makes you want to be in the military and only focus on that.
Service Learning at Camp Ketcha For my service learning, I volunteered in their nature-based preschool that is open to children with developmental disabilities, though not all of the children have disabilities. Camp Ketcha is dedicated to showing kids and adults the value of the outdoors: Camp offers a world of experience that no other classroom can. At Ketcha, we strive to create this world every day!
