John Singleton’s film, Boyz N the Hood, displays the challenging upbringing of adolescents who have to live with harsh conditions around not only their home but also their surrounding town. The film compares the differences between the lifestyles of Tre Styles and his friends’, Darren and Ricky Baker. Darren and Ricky are half-brothers who are nothing alike. Singleton demonstrates the importance of male leadership in a home in the ghetto of Los Angeles by comparing the difference between the lifestyles of Tre and his friends. While many adolescents in the hood have close friendships, some form close relationships by assembling gangs and create a world of violence due to alcohol abuse, which together ultimately breeds discrimination.
Every year individuals from all across the United States makes the decision on whether or not they will try out for an interscholastic athletic team. These individuals hope to be part of something special, whether it’s achieving individual goals or team goals. They also understand they will need to sacrifice time, energy, and their social life in order to achieve these goals. When tryouts begin these individuals hope their skills and abilities will get them recognized by not only the coaches, but the returning players as well. A problem arises though once try outs are over and the team is announced.
During an off-season where many star football players were long overdue for a contract extension, it isn 't too absurd to claim that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was the most deserving. The three main characters are Darin (Dough boy), Ricky (Darin’s brother), and Tre. In this this film there are many schools of criminology’s that help explain the roots of the criminality portrayed.

Is playing high school football worth the risk and harm inflicted to high school football players? This is the main question raised by the author, Raymond Schroth, in the article “Abolish High School Football.” In this article, Schroth talked about the disadvantages and harms of playing high school football to the players. In particular I believe the writer focuses more on Tre Styles and his point of view. Those that viewed this movie got to witness how racism, violence, gangs, and growing up in the hood shaped the future of all three boys. The movie starts out in the year 1984 focusing on Tre Styles and how his behavior in school forces his mom to take him to live with his father. His father has more strict rules in his home and his mother believes that he needs his dad in his life to turn him and shape him into a young mature man. Tre immediately reunites with his childhood friends Ricky and Darrin and they spend time catching up.
The sport I chose to observe was college football. I decided to chose this sport because football is a sport my family enjoys to watch. Also I enjoy watching football more than any other sport because there is so much that could happen, in football many unexpecting plays could happen, and each game is different than the last one. The game I chose to watch was a college football game between the University of Notre Dame and the University of Miami that took place at the University of Miami on Saturday, November 11, 2017.
