In Cynthia Leitich Smith’s short story, “A Real-Live Blond Cherokee and His Equally Annoyed Soul Mate,” Leitich use conflict and the characterization of Jason to illustrate that when we look past simplified, one-dimensional stereotypes, we can reach a better understanding of each other.
