Imaginative Teenagers Why do dystopian science fiction get the attention and interest of teens. Teenagers love to be entertained. Many of them also go through tough times just, like the characters in dystopian society novel, The Giver, by Lois Lowry. Plus the novella, Anthem, by Ayn Rand. Most teenagers feel strong about things they can relate too. In the novella, Anthem, kids can relate to wanting an escape. Equality 7-2521 first escape is his tunnel from the unspeakable times. Equality 7-2521 was very passionate about his escape. He states, Keep silent. This place is ours. “This place belongs to us, Equality 7-2521, and to no other man on earth. And if even we surrender it we shall surrender our life with it also” (Rand 34). Many adolescents feel very strong about their escapes, because they get overloaded with life.
