Pat was at a psychiatric hospital for his severe bipolar disorder. His mom arrived at the hospital to discharge him after the court served him 8 months to get the necessary treatment he needs due to his brutal behavior. It all started when he got home from work and he heard his wedding video playing. He traced the sound where it was leading to the bathroom and then suddenly caught her with another man. Pat got so frustrated that he was losing his mind and brutally assaulted his wife’s lover after his wife’s lover said, “Get out!”
In society today, mental health is a big issue and a horrible thing to encounter. Mental health can get so bad that suicide has became a huge problem in our society. In Heroes, Francis Cassavant developed mental issues throughout the book. Francis developed feelings for Nicole Renard, his classmate at St. Jude’s Parochial school. Francis battled with depression and suicidal thoughts.
Psychosis is a strange phenomenon as most who have it don’t realize they do. Often times, psychosis can be cured with therapy, but otherwise, it requires medication. Rog Phillips, in his story “The Yellow Pill”, addresses both these methods of curing delusions in an individual with psychosis, but the reality is, only one man needs therapy as the true setting is on Earth. At the beginning of the story, Jerry Bochek, a man who shot and killed six people and wounded two others, was brought into Dr.Elton’s office by four police officers and was wearing a straight jacket. Jerry was waiting in the reception room and the narrator states that Jerry, “was smiling, relaxed, and idly watching Helena''(Phillips).

When the author mentions the outcome of Graham taking the pills, “I used to cast fire from the tips of my fingers... But now I take the pills, I haven’t bankrupted us yet, I don’t want to kill myself.” Deciding to take your medicine is a big step, it is important for controlling illnesses. One of the purposes of a medication’s is take one’s mind focus and on a clear path of pursuing their goals. In addition, medicine keeps your thoughts quiet and brings awareness of one’s harmful thoughts.
The Catcher In The Rye is a very controversial book that revolves around the adolescence of Holden Caulfield who speaks to the reader directly from a mental hospital or sanitarium in southern California. We find this out at the end of the book which gives a definite answer that he does have a disorder. Holden deals with many mind states which led me to believe that he is bipolar. Bipolar disorder is characterized by cycling mood changes, severe highs, mania, and severe lows, depression. Throughout the story we see that holden shows many symptoms of bipolar disorder.

Throughout the memoir, it is seen that Jeannette has a special connection with her father unlike any of the other siblings, but despite Jeannette believing in him Rex struggles to raise her and the kids in the normal life that they deserve due to his battle with mental illness. Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, is a common mental disorder that is caused by genetics, the environment, brain structure, and chemistry.
