Another major implication on these two mens presidencies was the Cold War and the fight for democracy to rule over communism around the world. Thus, many of the stances these two presidents had on Vietnam involved being aggressive in the war and not letting communism defeat the “free” world. DuBois made it very vocal that he grew to find Washington’s program painful, as he became more outspoken about racial injustice and began to differ with Washington over the importance of liberal arts education. DuBois noted that Washington’s accommodating program produced little to no real gain for the race of the Negro people. DuBois came to view Washington as a political boss who had too much power and used it ruthlessly to his own advantage.

Throughout the neighborhoods of Crenshaw, there are many gunshots and bright lights from the helicopter above that make it difficult for many African Americans to escape the grim conditions in a society that is based on capitalism. If you have power in a capitalist society, the main goal is to figure out what to do to keep the wealthy in power. Throughout history, from ancient civilizations up to modern day, have experienced some type of discrimination, due to race, gender, religion, beliefs. As a Muslim, this discrimination has exploded in the early 2000’s ever since the 9/11 Attacks. The title of the article I chose to address is titled “The rise of Black Lives Matter: Trying to break the cycle of violence and silence”. This article extend beyond the idea of Black Lives Matter and wants the reader to be informed on what it is like to be black in america. The author includes a wide amount of information to help the reader understand why this cry for help was even created and why they want to stand up and make a change in our society. The purpose of this piece is to inform the general audience as to what Black Lives Matter really is and explain how they hope to rise as a movement. All though there may be issues within the group and outside forces that are wanting to go against them they will still not be silenced.
