I am reading the nonfiction book Heroes of 9/11 by Allan Zullo. This book has 192 pages in it. According to a customer review on Amazon,”Zullo did an amazing bringing 9/11 to life”. I think the intended audience for Heroes of 9/11 is for ages ten and up because they have mature situations that kid are ready to read. That my reason it is good for younger audience.
Perchance some grown ups will find it interesting anyway. Usually, older folks have to read children’s books for something specific, to analyze it, to read it to their children, but maybe they do like reading it just for gratification. Nevertheless, a children’s book doesn’t have an audience restriction. It can educate and delight each one of us.
the book had way too much and it was way too mature and had lot’s of sexual context. I feel as if the books with mature language and racism are eye opening for kids and the books are a great example to show the kids. All kids have to take a health class and they learn about sex so what’s the difference?Kids have to grow up and mature at some point of time and if they see stuff like that in their local school library maybe they would seek awareness. This is not reasonable because what about the kids that are black, asian, chinese etc.. It may show awareness to the kids that white but to kids like them it seems wrong and unfair that racism is being displayed in their school and it could be discouraging.
It is unsuited for school age group. Besides, this book uses offensive words such as fuck, asshole, nigger and pussy etc. For example, in the book Arnold admits about masturbation “If there were a Professional Masturbator League, I’d get drafted number one and make millions of dollars” (Alexie 26). For this reason, the book is not appropriate for middle schools. For children, they are not capable enough to absorb these kinds of information from the book.
This book is meant for teenagers and up, as you can see from
The promotion of underage drinking, the descriptive details of violence, and the sexual content in the book makes it highly inappropriate. The majority of young adults are not prepared to handle the situations mentioned in the novel. Most parents try their hardest to protect their children from these settings. Exposing young adults to these situations can result in problems because they are not emotionally mature. Society needs to be more sensitive to how this material can negatively affect a young person's development.
Many people also feel that this book is irrelevant to student’s lives. However, kids should learn what life would be like for kids at their age in a different time period. Like what was stated before, in a history class, when we learn about the history, we learn about the straight facts, not as much of the personal lives of people living in that time. Since the novel is showing the personal recollections of one boy in the time period, students can identify the similarities between the two lessons. Since the similarities will be present, the students could make connections to both of the
The first reason why the story is appropriate for kids our age is because kids like excitement. This story is great for giving readers excitement and thrill like some horror stories. This story doesn't have monsters but still gives the reader entertainment. Edgar Allen Poe
I believe when I read this book while in elementary school I just thought it was a cool story.
This would also further play into the fear that a child would have due to the mature themes that they would not understand. To conclude, many kids would not understand the material presented in the book and start to have incorrect thoughts in their
The genie didn’t outset like everyone knows him, he wasn’t omnipotent or even delighted in the beginning. Throughout his life, he had to agonize and put up with many events. However, you could say those advents made him who he is. At the beginning, he was a wonted person called Khalid, who didn’t enjoy an ecstatic life. Living in the streets, he had managed to withstand over time by doing small tasks and in extreme plights, by stealing.
Since the publication of the text there has been a lot of controversy about whether or not students should read the text in middle school or high school.
Just from reading this much, the parenting style in this book is ridiculous and the kids made the right choices as they got older to be successful. RoseMary
A Book About Burning Books? Isn’t that hypocritical? There is an aspect of children that never ceases to astonish me: their curiosity. It is quite admirable in a way, often we find ourselves wishing for youth again. A time when questions were still yet unanswered, the world more friendly, and atrocities yet learned or seen.
A parent or the student should be the one who decided whether or not the book is appropriate. Also, when a child is sheltered from the world, a book with just a bit of adult material could help them understand what really happens. It could prepare them so when they do become older and get a job, the world doesn’t put them into complete shock. Taken from Common Reasons for Banning Books, “…it is important that the reader makes his/her judgments on the book.” To elaborate on this, another person shouldn’t tell a student what and what not to read.
