In the article “Religions: The Basics” by Malory Nye talks about female writers, inequality and the distinction between males and females. In the article it mentioned how the term Androcentricism assumes that the male’s perspective and experiences are the most vital and key point of reference. I agree with Mary Daly that the concept of belief in a male deity leads to profound sexual inequalities. The reason I agree with Mary Daly is due to the fact there is a lot of gender differences and that women are viewed as inferior, while men are more superior. It is surprising that in western culture, they can’t go a day without woman-male distinction.

Introduced were the three main characters that are the focal point in the Christian worldview, including God who is sovereign and a triune God, humanity who began life in God’s good graces, but quickly fell away because of idolatry and bad choices early on, and Jesus, the Savior who came and rescued them. Crucified and then resurrected, Jesus restored humanity’s relationship with God and because of God’s infinite love, through grace, promised them life eternal. Through this, benefits and strengths of the Christian worldview were brought to the forefront along with some challenges that believers face. Finally, this discussion revealed my own beliefs in relationship to the Christian worldview.

It must be open to correction and refinement, even from other world views” (1984, p. 39). We can use the world views to better ourselves and see what we are doing wrong. When it comes to knowing and learning the religions of the world one must approach them with a critical mind. One cannot simply just believe every religion and know have their own view points. David Van Biema presents his ideas about Christianity and Jesus in “The Gospel Truth?”. Van Biema’s main point is about how “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John… is notoriously unreliable,” . Van Biema writes about how one cannot be completely sure about whether to believe if Jesus actually said what is written in the bible, he continues to say that Jesus may even be an “imaginative theological construct” .
George Marsden, a historian at the University of Notre Dame, argues Niebuhr’s analysis of the Christ and culture problem could be near the end of its usefulness in its present form. Marsden, as a historian, is aware of how Niebuhr’s historical setting influenced his work. Christ and Culture was written right after the horrors of World War II; because of this Niebuhr wanted to show how Christian influences could make a positive contribution toward tolerance. He addressed the accusation that “Christianity has made no positive contribution… to civilization or to culture” by developing the typology we have been studying (6). However, because these types are so broad they are historically inadequate and have been subjected to numerous critiques.
The author Claude Geffre collected all the information possible about Christianity and the culture. Geffre had gone into great depth about the culture of this religion. Throughout history, we have seen Christianity grow and form many new expressions through faith and practice. It has said to be that the gospel has been translated into the everyday fabric of life to get that fulfillment of the universal mission. I found that there were no limitations featured in this article as Geffre did a great job explaining the history of our culture.

I would like the committee to consider the book I recently read, Michael Vey: Hunt for the Jade Dragon by Richard Paul Evans, for this list. This was a very good book.
