I am an eighth grade student at Tomahawk Creek Middle School. I understand that a committee plans to create a required reading list for high school students to choose for their English course. I would like the committee to consider the book I recently read, Michael Vey: Hunt for the Jade Dragon by Richard Paul Evans, for this list. This was a very good book. It had VERY interesting characters, a VERY intriguing plot, and it also has a very good message. A very crucial part of a good book is well written characters. If this book was judged solely on it’s characters it would be a home run. This book starts out as the characters are in dismay while coming back from a difficult and heartbreaking mission and all of the sudden they have to leave to go on another really hard one. There is very awesome scenes in the book when they are breaking out of the Starxource plant and when they are rescuing Jade Dragon. There are many twists and turns in this book. Some I didn’t see coming and some I had to reread that page. I also like there is no mature content like curse words or other things. Finally, this book another thing I love about this book is the connection between Taylor and Michael. In one of the earlier books Michael gets captured and Doctor Hatch (Executive Director of Elgen Inc.) and Tara (Taylor’s identical twin sister) come to his cell. Tara pretends to be Taylor and tells him that she was just faking about their relationship and that she was just trying to draw him to Dr. Hatch. Once Tara leaves Michael says to Dr. Hatch “Tell Tara that I know she and Taylor are identical twins, but she’s really not as pretty.” This proved to me that Michael and Taylor had formed an unbreakable bond.
