The Culprit: Philip Malloy On March 28, a student by the name of Philip Malloy is disrespectfully singing the “Star- Spangled Banner.” The teacher the student had at this time, Miss Margaret Narwin, did her job and asked Malloy to stop. When this incident occurred the following day Malloy is asked to see the assistant principal, Dr. Joseph Palleni, Dr. Palleni gave Malloy a warning. The same incident happened the next day, again, Philip Malloy is sent to Dr. Palleni’s office.
In Drums and Bullets by Jim Murphy, the author explains that young boys often join the civil war. Power explains that young boys showed bravery in many ways. One way they showed bravery was that Drummer boys were brave for example “this boy puts you in shame get up move forward ”said the commander. The civil war was hard because there was a lot of dead and wounded people,the drummer boys were brave, they would be trained to not flinch when they shoot.
Everyone will get consequences for some of their bad actions. What did you do to get your consequence? You probably didn't get one as bad as the boy in “The Fight” a story about a boy and a bully named Mike, get into a fight,. Adam Bagdasarian is the one who wrote this short story he shows us that you will get consequences for your actions. The boy who got into the fight got a lot of consequences for what he decided to do and lost things that were important to him.

The story by Richard Connell, is a story about a man named General Zaroff who loved hunting. Though after hunting all over the world for almost every big game species. He started getting bored with hunting. He thought and thought about how to make hunting more interesting. He tried different weapons such as bows, but these didn’t help either.
The short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell enhances the theme of rivalry in use of the setting. The setting is key to making this story because it intensifies the situation. The protagonist, Rainsford, is trapped on an island by a mad man called Zaroff. Zaroff uses the island to lure in boats and capture the crews. He then hunts the men as if it were a game.
Hunting can be considered safe until… "The Most Dangerous Game" took place on a Ship-Trap Island. Rainsford swam to the island after fell off the ship that he was traveling on. On the island, Rainsford found resources to survive and a famous hunter, General Zaroff, reveals that he wanted to hunt Rainsford, because he finds hunting humans more exciting and interesting than just animals. Through intelligence and cleverness, Rainsford managed to end Zaroff's life. In the story, The Most Dangerous Game is a powerful adventure tale.

The author Richard Connell shows us the insanity of humanity through this short story.
The novel “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton focuses on the differences and similarities of social classes. The greasers, who are on the poorer side of town, and the socs, who live on the rich side of town, are constantly at war. Hinton focuses on a gang named The Curtis gang. This consists on Ponyboy Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, Darry Curtis who are all brothers and are under the care of eldest Darry. Also in the gang are Sodapop’s best friend Steve, Johnny who is Ponyboy’s best buddy, Two-Bit the wise cracker, and Dallas the dangerous one.
The story “Bullet in the Brain” by Tobias Wolff is a very interesting sorry about a man named Anders. Anders is a very unusual character as he always analyzes and critic mostly everything that happens in his life and all of the people that he interacts with just like what he does in the books he normally reads. The story focuses on his final memory after the situation of him being shot in the head by some robbers at a bank. The final memory that flashed back into Anders is a memory of him as a kid playing baseball with his friends in a sunny field.
The book Hit Squad was a high school based story in Vancouver. Firstly, there was three attacks on students by the lower class society at Grandview. The character Birgit gets held down by her classmates while the other students spit chocolate on her face and into her hair. She was saved by the end of class as the bell rang. Mickey and Joey tried to fight their bullies off but still got beaten up.
On Killing by Dave Grossman is not your everyday pick up a book and read by the lake type of novel. On Killing is a novel where you will find yourself having mixed emotions, some believe this book is horrible and violent, but others believe this novel is eye-opening and impacts them to learn the psychological ways on the basics on how and why soldiers kill humans. The main theme is “killology” which is the psychological study Grossman came up with about the idea of how humans are capable of killing other humans and how they may cope with it. I would not only recommend this book to military members, but to everyone in society. In “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, the characters encounter many life-changing problems. This fictional, but suspenseful, piece contained a variation of conflicts for each character. Whether it was a character vs. character, nature, or himself each one shows the person’s true colors, and shapes them to be who they are. From the start Rainsford believed hunting was completely justifiable. However, once he had that experience with Zaroff his opinions changed.
Conflicts occur frequently in literature and life, but are they necessary? In my opinion, we do need to have conflicts so we could learn from them. We will analyze the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell and how the author uses external conflict or man vs. nature, external by man vs. animal and external conflicts or man vs. man to reveal character motivation or development. This short story is about a guy (Rainsford) who falls off a ship and swims to an island and finds out that Zaroff hunts people for entertainment. As Richard Connell states on page 7 .
According to Steven Pinker’s article, “A History of Violence”, violence has decline throughout the centuries. The way of life and traditions were much more different in the sixteenth century. Violence was more extreme. Pinker mentioned that their form of entertainment was cat-burning, “in which a cat was hoisted in a sling on a stage and slowly lowered into a fire.” In our modern time, people would think it is unacceptable and the most horrifying event to be taking place.
