When reading "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" for the first time as a child, I never suspected there to be any underlying messages in the text. However, after a thorough analysis of literary criticism on this children's book, I was able to conclude that this book suggests Marxist criticism. It's clear throughout the story that the Whos are a society of people without class structure. The only exception is the Grinch himself who lives north of Whoville, living in seclusion from their classless society. The fact that the Grinch is habitually ostracized insinuates that he may be of the lower class than the Whos.
