The article Self Regulated Learner by Weimer and the other article How To Get More Grit in your life by Angela Duckworth strengthen the same theory that no matter, what skills we are born with, we can change our mental abilities and through the process of self regulation, we can transform them into academic skills. As Barry Zimmerman, a researcher on self regulated learning states, “Self-regulation is not a mental ability or an academic performance skill; rather it is the self-directive process by which learners transform their mental abilities into academic skills.” (p. 65) He identifies three main factors which are involved in self regulatory process as self awareness, self motivation and behavioral skills to implement that knowledge..
