As we look all around us, we begin to become aware of the many different technologies that are in the world today. The different technologies started not very long ago, however they have advanced very quickly to please the new generations. The older generation that has grown up without technology is having to quickly adjust to the new world. The technologies could be shaping our minds in ways that we are not aware of or in ways that we don't take the time to actually think about. As technology is changing and evolving for the worst, so are our minds.
Nicholas Carr, a writer and literature major, took the time to write his opinion about the new technologies and how they are shaping us today. He did this in his work “Is Google Making Us Stupid?”. Google is changing the way we perceive, process and interpret about different things. “I'm not thinking the way I used to think. I can feel it most strongly when I'm reading… Now my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages. I get fidgety, lose the thread, begin looking for something else to do.(Carr 313)” Like Carr’s says in this quote from the article “Is Google making us Stupid”, his thinking is changing and he doesn’t think like how he use to think. Everything has come so easily to him now because of the start of Google. It now makes the process of thinking about things easier. So we aren’t working as hard to process the information. “The deep reading that used to come naturally has become a struggle.(Carr 314)" That is why Carr thinks Google is bad or changing the world, because we, as a whole, dont stimulate our brains as much anymore by actually looking things up instead of just typing them into
