Many people believe that search engines are dumbing our generation. Peter Norvig's article "Google Inc." states that Google is actually helping our intellect in many different ways. The opposing side argues that Google is making us stupid however, google is improving our intelligence. Google is not the result of a loss of intelligence.

The first reason is that the internet is connecting us to factual information instantly. The article "Google Inc." states that "The Internet contains the world's best writing, images, and ideas; Google lets us find the relevant pieces instantly." Peter Norvig explains how Google is giving us the world's best information instantly without any struggle. When looking for information you must have the correct data and have it quick and accessible. The final reason is Google gives us information and encourages us to think with purpose. Nicholas Carr states "... Google is giving us all that useful information, it's also encouraging us to think superficially." He states that it isn't allowing us to think deeply however, Norvig argues that "By considering a wide range of information, we can arrive at more creative and informed solutions.
