When anyone says the word ‘relationship’ the first thing that pops into everyone’s head is boyfriend, girlfriend or marriage, but there are many different kinds and forms of relationships. For example, relationships can be with friends, teachers, coworkers, ect., and there are different forms of relationships aswell like, mutualism, which is a relationship where all the organsims benefit, or parasitism, which is a relationship where one partner benefits and the other is harmed. In the short novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and in the novel Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom the reader sees the common theme of relationships, whether they be good or bad. In the short novella Of Mice and Men Steinbeck shows many positive relationships, an example of a positive relationship would be the two main characters George and Lennie.
I found Roger’s (Matthew) excuses very intriguing, it was thoughts that never crossed through my mind. Rogers’s perspective was totally opposite from the prosecutor’s perspective. In Roger’s shoes, he wanted to end the conflict between Ralph, Piggy and Jack so he leaned on the lever to push the boulder which would interrupt them and hopefully stop them from fighting. On the other hand, the prosecutor’s point of view is that Roger leaned on the boulder to purposely hit Piggy so that he would die.
Although George can be seen as caring to others he may be seen as controlling over what Lennie says and does. In chapter four, George goes off with the other farmhands to have fun and relax while he leaves Lennie alone back at the ranch. When Lennie goes off to pet his pup that Slim, one of the other farmhands, gave him, he sees someone else in the barn so he goes over and starts to talk with the stable buck, Candy.. When George found out what Lennie was talking about with a black guy, he scowled at Lennie and scolded him. " George scowled. "I though I tol ' you not to tell nobody about that."

Picture, not living at all, being cooped up in a house all day, not being able to do anything and living a life of boredom. In the early 1930’s, the Great Depression is in its mits and racial minorities are fearful for their lives, women’ role in society is miniscule and the mentally challenged are being institutionalized. Throughout John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men, he accurately represents the historical and cultural elements presented in the 1930’s, including:
I was reading an article about a military man who lost his leg in war with his best friend by his side. He asked his best friend to kill him so he doesn 't have to live with out a leg. The article asked if his best friend should let him live or kill him like he asked. In this situation his best friend has to think if he is obligated to kill his friend like he said or to let him live. This relates to Mice of Men were George has to think if he should kill Lennie or let him live.

In my first paper I am choosing the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck to evaluate the notion of being a migrant during the Great Depression. The two main characters George and Lenny must face the hard struggles of being a migrant worker facing problems such as: racism, sexism, and oppression. I will talk about the disadvantages George and Lenny appear to have that are truly advantages. Also I will analyze the friendship between George and Lenny and how they overcome the rough lifestyle of migrant workers. I will argue that although they were against many odds were truly never underdogs because deeply loving friendship.
Walking the Line George is not only one of the main characters in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, but he is also one of the most complex. He walks the line with an array of mixed emotions, such as his quick anger towards Lennie and then at key moments, he also shows his loving, compassionate side that we don’t always get to experience. This is the very complicated side to him due to his personal emotional distress. For example, having to take care of Lennie and then, due to disturbing events, he feels he needs to shoot him in order to protect him.. Although the story stops there, we can infer that particular situation causes George even more emotional damage, and adds to his overwhelming loneliness.
There is nothing more heartbreaking than the death of a close friend--but imagine being the one to kill them. In John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men, George Milton and Lennie Small share a complex relationship with one another that ultimately ends in tragedy. Lennie is like a child in an adult’s body, while George acts as a guide for him. In this essay, the two of them will be contrasted against one another to show their many traits and how it affects their relationship.
The book Of Mice and Men is full of puzzling examples of the human condition, from Lennie and his mental disability to Curley only caring about his social appearance. With characters like these two, the book exploits the human condition that concerns circumstances life has given you. John Steinbeck brings to life what being a laborer in the American depression meant to the men and one woman who had enough personality to stand out. Steinbeck shows the human condition of men while they survive in the American depression.
