While reading your review about the book Maus, some of your opinions created some of my own opinions about the book Maus written by Art Spiegelman. As I was reading your review I stumbled upon some things that I agreed with, like that it was a good read for a high school level Holocaust studies class, but mostly I disagreed. While reading I disagreed with most things that you stated in your review. One thing I stumbled that I really disagree with was the purpose of the story, I believe that your book review was poor because you didn't understand the true purpose behind Art Spiegelman writing Maus. In your review you talked about how the book didn't really represent the Holocaust history well, but I believe that wasn't the purpose behind his writing. One example from Maus is from chapter one, when Art is telling his father about how he wants to draw a book about him(pg 12). ‘’I still want to draw that book about you’’, ‘’the one I used to talk to you about’’, ‘’about your life in poland, and the war’’, ‘’it would take many books, no one wants anyway to hear such stories’’,’’ I want to hear it, start with mom, tell me how you met’’, ‘’better you should spend your time to make drawings what will bring you some money’’.
