New Orleans, also known as ”America’s most interesting city”. Here, you quickly learn that bars have no closing hour, the food is spicy and that the music is pulsating almost everywhere. But then a horrendous incident happened, and left the inhabitants of New Orleans scarred. ”One Dead In Attic” is an article written by Chris Rose. Here, we get an inside look behind the results of hurricane Katrina, to show how the tragedy affected the citizens and left them abandon with nothing but hope for a brighter future to come.

He describes his surroundings in order to inform the people about the tragedy, so that the readers will know what really went down in Louisiana, New Orleans. Chris’ article is subjective, and it tends to be because he is so desperate to keep pace with the intention. “Imagine if your life came to that point, and remained there, on display, all over town for us to see, day after day.”(p.1, ll.55-56) This sentence especially contains the appealform pathos, where he asks the readers to vision themselves in the situation, where they have to live in a horrible house after being a victim to hurricane Katrina. The anaphora in these lines, ”day after day”, reinforces the meaning. Rose does not present any new information about the hurricane, which does not involve any new usable knowledge, but gives a more psychological insight. The poverty is so high already in the area, it is more likely to be called a ghetto. Still, this area waited the longest time to receive help. ”And who claimed him or her? Who grieved over 1 Dead in Attic and who buried 1 Dead in Attic?”(p.1,ll. 71-72) The quote supports my theory as soon as Chris Rose starts to question the government’s ability to take the matter into their own hands, to save lives. In the quote, he objectify the victim to show how the government give a lower priority to the poorest people, contrary to the rich.
