The lecture started with Sonia talking about what brought her to become journalist and some of the important stories in her life. She started by talking about growing up in Argentina and how becoming a journalist was going to be a way to advocate for her country. A little later in her lecture Sonia discussed how she came to realize that you cannot be an advocate and a journalist. She discussed how lack of political opinion was best when being a journalist and lack of political opinion is what made Enrique’s journey a better story.

He first mentions the influence of the television news to the American people, then discusses President Nixon’s method of communication through the use of television. He also discusses the criticisms Nixon’s commentators had made, regarding Nixon and Johnson’s speech. Towards the end of Agnew’s speech he specifically accentuates the importance of accuracy in the usage of media.

Alia Wong authored an article for The Atlantic concerning a loophole in legislation concerning government funding of tuition that encourages for-profit institutions to aggressively recruit students using military educational benefits. The Era of Soft News In today’s world, society moves as quickly as it can while exerting as little energy as possible. This idea is particularly applicable to the way media is created and circulated. While hard news, which is essentially news that covers serious political or business related topics that is reported in an immediate fashion, used to be the standard for receiving information, it seems that the current generation prefers to obtain information through soft news instead.
