America Faces A Conflict In Society After the harsh battle of World War II United States began to take a turn towards democracy. During the 1950 to 1960 a far greater issue happened in United States and this was racial discrimination with unfair policies that opposed many people rights. Furthermore, many ethnic and class groups became well aware that they were not being fairly treated as citizen and the condition that they were living in. This affected American society heavily with many problems striking towards racism, which brought conflicts and fights to happen in court and on the battle with the Civil Right movement. I will be discussing some of the events that happen within the era of 1950 to the 1960 that affected American society and some of the ethnic groups that contribute to the cause trying to get rid of racial discrimination, having equal rights as to obtain citizenship and being protected from these attacks. One event that led American to be look down upon was dishonoring Japanese ancestry. During the time toward 1950 a law was trying to be passed by The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) this law was prop fifteen for "validation of the alien land law (Takaki, pg 412)." This event was however resulted in prop fifteen to be denied due to high voter not wanting to pass this law. During the Civil Right Movement lead by Martin Luther King himself protested to defend other races against racial issues and give equal rights as same as white power. This movement woke up many American to fight back against any racial discrimination "condemning racism in all of its forms, including immigration policies (Takaki, pg 418)." America at this time had a serious problem between other races fitting into the society which made people to fight among themselves to see who was the superior race. This affected American society to see that many people were struggling to be on equal term with white people but as well as protecting black and other races from racial prejudice assault. As the time progress through 1954 the Supreme Court announced that segregated school became unconstitutional through numerous marches that Martin Luther King and many others demonstrated why people should be treated equally and fairly as a citizen of the America. However, through this turn of event Congress began to exile all racial discrimination an made America become equality as a whole. As a result this opened many new opportunities for many immigrants to come into America and be benefited with equal opportunities as white people.
