In Chandra Johnson article “Facetime vs. screen time” reproduced by Deseret News National, the author explains how technology is affecting people nowadays in many ways. At the beginning it states how communication has changed; explaining how communication has been getting weaker. The article also explains how technology is changing people biologically, changing our way to relate to each other. The article implies that person to person is much better in terms of resolution of conflicts than technology would. The article also says how technology is a barrier in communication because it limits you to write instead of express. In the end, the article tries to explain how we should find a balance between technology and interpersonal interactions. …show more content…

Kate Robert highlights that technology diminish verbal skills and emotional intelligence; idea which I agree since people that not practice a certain skill, normally do not develop it or do not have enough of it. In this she explains that people are even requiring doing a courtship class to develop this skill. Which is sad because people should not need a class to ask someone out. She explains that technology is changing us biologically; because technology is replacing even parent’s interaction which is essential to develop pathways across the brain essential to grow emotional connections like empathy or sympathy. Idea which I also agree at certain point, because I do not think it is the case of every family, since people are trying to not replace themselves with technology. Roberts also stablish that people are not developing deep emotional connections with people because they are not interaction face to face. Idea in which I have the same mind of the author because I can see it on my day to day life; People emotions trapped in the social media, people trying to express emotions with emoticons, and people preferring to text instead of talking. Robert talks about finding a balance and generalizes about how all the families have barriers with their children which is not true because some parents also know about technology as much or more than their children.
