The name of my article is “Reprogramming Redux” and the author of this article is Anna Azvolinsky. The date that this article was issued was December 18th, 2014. The main idea of this article is about mechanical forces and stem cells. The author is talking about if mechanical forces alone be manipulated to create stem like cells in other words, can mechanical forces be turned into stem like cells. In the article it says how some researchers claimed to reprogram somatic cells (any cell of a living organism other than the reproductive cells) into pluripotent progenitors. Ever since this team found how to reprogram cells other teams said to do so too. This led into more investigation and studies. In this article the author uses information about …show more content…

I think the author though could've used more facts so she could back up her opinion. Something I learned from this article was that if you culture two different cell lines on a soft substance they can inherit or acquire stem cell like qualities. I think other information that would help me understand this topic better is a deeper explanation on the topic the article gave a brief explanation. Three words that i didn't understand were; progenitors, pluripotent, and PNAS. Progenitors means the parent or creator of something, it did go with the context I was reading. Pluripotent is a stem cell that is capable of giving rise to other cell types, it also went with the context. PNAS stands for Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences this also went with the context because it was talking about universities. A question I would ask one of my peers is do you think this study can be confirmed to work or not? This question can have multiple answers however, in my opinion I don’t think the study can be confirmed because there is not sufficient evidence. Another question I would ask one of my peers is do you think enough research was done. It rather ties in with the first question a little bit. This question can also be with multiple answers however, in my opinion I don’t think enough research was found. I think this because if there was enough research found this study would already be
