Two years ago, former musician, current writer, and radio journalist Richard (RJ) Eskrow wrote an article for the Huffington Post on May 19th, 2014. This article, by the name of “Free Higher Education”, stressed about how higher education should be free for all. The article argues that the idea of having free education can be very beneficial. Eskow supported his claim in this article by providing very important information and elaborating on the benefits of having free higher education. Eskow elaborates on the United States and how it is a land where there is equal opportunity for everyone. In this article, Bruenig argues that free college is a problem and that it should not be giving as a handout. In order to support his claim Bruenig goes on to discuss the three forms of college benefits that United States students currently receives. Bruenig claims that there is a problem with free college. According to Bruenig the problem with free college is that “most students come from a disproportionately well –off backgrounds and already enjoy disproportionately well off futures.” This claim is ridiculous. There is absolutely no evidence to support or validate this claim.
Free higher education actually benefits all people, whether the person is low class, middle class, or high class. Here’s why: Having free education for all would actually decrease the burden of low income students having to stress about how they are going to pay off student debt. Being a college student and a full time worker does not do any justice. There is no way a person can focus on school due to the thought of worrying about they’re going to pay for
