I agree with kaepernick because the actions that police have been making (especially to blacks) is unbelievably horrible. For example Amadou Diallo, Manuel Loggins jr, Ronald Madison, Kendra James, Sean Bell, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Alton Sterling are all African Americans and have all been killed by a one cop or more. So I see where kaepernick’s coming from and if i was him I’d probably do the same thing. This article doesn 't really talk about Colin Kaepernick and his anthem protest it mostly talks about the anthem and how it’s played before a game of NBA and NFL etc.
In the article one of the biggest supporting statements on this topic is when author writes, “Owners do not want the supposed “distraction,” or they believe fans would not accept the first player who knelt on a sideline during the national anthem, or they personally dislike his politics.’’ Using Kaepernick’s political views is an example of the author using ethos in his writing. It’s clear that the author believes because of his actions while on the field Kaepernick will not be welcome to the NFL. Very early in this article the author writes, “Take a minute, though, and it’s difficult not to conclude a verdict has already been rendered. It’s difficult to believe Kaepernick will play in the NFL again.’’
The question presented is whether, a high school regulation, requiring that student athletes “stand in a respectful manner throughout the National Anthem during any sporting event in which their team is participating” violates the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The court should rule for the defendant Jane Skinner, utilizing the case of Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier (1988) and Tinker v. Des Moines School District (1969). Which both implies that her actions were resulted from materially and substantially interfere with other student, and therefore justifies Jane Skinners actions. Facts: On October 4, 2017 Jane Skinner who is the principal of Alabama’s Hoover High School, informed both students and parents of a new sporting
In the sports article, “49ers Fans Burn Jerseys Over Player 's Refusal To Stand During Anthem”, Washington post claims that Kaepernick 's fans disagree with his actions, by burning his jersey. The article then mentions a few players and/or officials who support his decisions to kneel while the national anthem plays. Furthermore, Kaepernick 's action did not physically harm another individual. It is then argued, Kaepernick has a right such as the other individuals who reside in this nation, as an American we have freedom of religion and freedom of expression. Washington post concludes, with Kaepernick 's opinion, approval is not the reasoning behind this, but instead standing up for those who are
In several ways the novella Anthem can be compared to the modern day communist dictatorship North Korea. Although they are similar in some places they are completely different in other ways. Ways they are able to be compared and contrasted are the forms of government, the state and mentality of the citizens, and development or progress as a civilization. Although it is often said that anywhere can be better than a certain place, such as people saying that school is the worst place that exists for a relatable example, there are various different factors that play into the overall condition of something that it can be extremely difficult to tell. To finish the previous thought, school can be hated because people are put up to endure hours upon
And you clearly don’t understand the people who make you stars and make you rich (McLaughlin 1). Point out the NFL players disrespect our country, he protest against them. Meanwhile, McLaughlin explain they like football and make the NFL players to be the famous and rich people. Regardless not NFL players don’t know the country and god are the most important things in the author life. That’s why McLaughlin wants to protest NFL player, and he suggests the people try to do the same.
A controversial topic currently circulating throughout the media and society, is professional athletes kneeling during the National Anthem. In my opinion, this is a completely useless, unnecessary action done just for attention. The theory behind the action is supposed to represent unity. Unity is not achieved by causing controversy, but it’s achieved by coming together and supporting each other when times get tough.
In the book Anthem the societies work together and work as a unit to get everything done, compared to our society where we work as individuals and do things by ourselves. For insistence in Anthem there are multiple groups such as street sweepers or the scholars all of them have someone in charge and they make all the calls. Unlike in our society where we make calls for ourselves like when we go to bed and where we want go and spend our nights and what jobs we want to have. Some ways our societies differs are at the age of 15 all the boys are assigned to a task for the remainder of his life.
The current debate over kneeling or sitting in protest during the National anthem ignited by Colin Kaepernick in 2016 has escalated to become a nationally divisive issue. Colin Kaepernick, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers refuse to stand during “the Star Spangled Banner” Aug. 2016, to protest against racial injustice and police brutality in the United States. These athletics that chose not to stand for the national anthem because there was a message they wanted to send. Needless to say, an individual has a right to believe as they so choose. Kaepernick along with many others feel that not standing for the national anthem is a peaceful way to protest and release their feelings.
The National Anthem goes on every single time before a game begins. Each time it is being sung everyone usually stands up to show respect for America. While, news said that a few athletic players that have been sitting down, while the National Anthem goes on. This keeps happening more and more slowly because those athletics don’t believe that America lives up to that potential in the song as it once represented. As well as the incidents that happened with the police of excessive force being used against people unassertively.
Holly Pryle Emily Chappell English 121 22 March 2018 Kneeling for the Anthem Every American child is raised with the knowledge that they were born in a country that by law gives them freedom of self-expression and the right to protest. However, this right does not mean that people must agree with you and in many cases, groups wind up at odds over differing opinions. Over the past few years America has seen many examples of this, most notably football players protesting injustice by kneeling during the anthem.
Kneeling during the national anthem is a form of peacefully protesting instead of choosing to stay silent and not have a voice. Former NFL player Colin Kaepernick who is currently a free agent brought the attention to “kneeling during the national anthem” when he decided to take a knee during a preseason game. Him kneeling brought an uproar of people who believed he was being “disrespectful” and “unpatriotic”, others believed he was being “brave” and a “hero”. Kaepernick had a reason for doing so, he was standing up for social justice and police brutality again African Americans. Significance of The Flag
Chip kelly, kaepernick's coach stated “it was his right as a citizen”. In other words stating that we have the right to protest our beliefs. By kaepernick protesting the national anthem he is protesting america. Professional athletes shouldn’t protest the country they live in. Police officers may have failed the american community but no one is perfect.
The flag protest generates conversation and awareness about topic. "In a situation like that, people are seeing it. We can report it”(“If there’s protest, NBC…”). This shows that if NFL players are doing controversial things that news outlets will report it.
My opinion about the footplayers taking a knee or even locking arms is disrespectful to our veterans and to our country and also our national anthem. I don’t agree with what they are doing and more and more people are doing and it makes me a little frustrated. The national anthem was a poem that Francis scott key had written when he was a war slave and wrote it to show that our country will never stop fighting for our rights and will always show that our flag was still there and will always be a symbol of our freedom and our wonderful nation. So my overall opinion would be that it’s very disrespectful and I know what they’re trying to do that are revolting against racism
