The poem Tableu was written by Courtnee Cullen, who was a black poet from the time before racial equality. He wrote many poems and was considered a great author by many, including me. Tableu, on the surface level, is a poem around two kids who are for some reason not allowed to be friends. It’s a great a poem in my opinion. The way the two boys are described in the first stanza are already striking. It clearly separates them by clearly identifying features that are unique to them. The thing with this is that the descriptive features aren’t even physical features. It’s more of a side that they are on, but since the boys are just boys, they really haven’t chosen a side.
