PAT #2 Pre-Reading Tunes for Bears to Dance to by Robert Cormier When I initially looked at the title I immediately thought of “Goldilocks and the three bears.” I associated the word bears with another story that I knew which was about bears. When analyzing the outside of the book I kept thinking that this book is going to be like “Goldilocks and the three bears.” So after analyzing the front page, I thought the picture on the front page was displaying a hammer hitting a wooden object. In mind I kept thinking the wooden object was a wooden chair, which created lots of wooden pieces. I have never read anything of Robert Cormier, so my assumptions were based on the title and front cover. After reading the back page I immediately wanted …show more content…

I knew his name from reading the back summary, but thought it was interesting that they did not mention the main character’s name right away. Brint was trying to discover what Adam did. Mr. Brint and Adam would talk and fill in the blank holes that Adam had. There were times in the interview where Adam did not think Mr. Brint was his friend, but his enemy. The way Mr. Brint asked and looked at Adam made Adam question Mr. Brint. Even though Adam questioned him Adam wanted to fill the blanks he had, so he allowed Mr. Brint to guide him in filling the blanks. During the conversation I thought Mr. Brint was guiding Adam to fill in certain holes that he had forgotten hoping to capture information that Adam’s father had mentioned to him. The conversations between Adam and Mr. Brint lead to memories, which Adam had experienced or the bicycle adventure. The memories were bits and pieces of information that Adam could remember like Amy Hertz the girl he loved or memories of his parents telling him the truth of his identity. Adams real identity and name was Paul Delmonte. The bicycle adventure was interesting because Adam left his home without his medication to go to Rutterburg Vermont. Adam was trying to get to his father and bring him his gift, and as the story continued he struggled to get to the place he was going. This portion of the book was difficult for me to understand at first, I couldn’t figure out how it tied into the book. I finally understood this portion of the book at the very end when Henry was at the hotel his parents had stayed.
